I've been putting off getting a Gentle Leader and finally after literally being pulled down by her over the weekend, I said I need one. BEST DECISION EVER!! Immediately I was able to actually walk her with no pulling. The pulling she did do, was very very minimal. I am over the moon happy to finally not have my arm ripped off at every walk. The little extra piece that you hook around the regular colar, gives me piece of mind, that if she were to break out of the leader, shes at least still controlled and cant get free. My senior mother, I now feel safe that she can also walk her. If your dog can pull you down or pulls in general this is your answer! I'd give it 50 stars if I could. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Heavy puller? But this IS the solution.Pros:Padded muzzle area so it isn’t painful to the dogHighly reflective stitching for safe evening walksWell made and sturdy constructionA real bonus is the loop you use to attach the gentle lead to your dogs collar- extra peace of mind while your dog is getting used to the new gear!Fits well, and pretty adjustableInstructions are clearDog can be walking close to you, in a heel position if you wish, and no straining and pulling to keep control of dogCons:The only one I can come up with is that the lever to adjust the muzzle size can slide open with a heavy puller while dog is getting used to wearing the new gear. Simple solution is that after adjusting it for fit, I hand stitched it in place so the size is perfect and the muzzle area doesn’t become too loose.MAKE SURE YOUR DOG CAN OPEN HIS MOUTH AND PANT.Not doing this is like someone putting duct tape across your mouth and making you walk and only breathe out of your nose. Just a well executed product! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great, sturdy, and comfortable, but -1 star for clasp slip *by N***. on May 22, 2021* Have been using this for several months on my 70lbs shepherd/lab mix who is an intense puller without a gentle lead on. She jerks really hard if she catches a scent, Ans a gentle lead is the only way to safety control her on a leash (collar chokes her and harnesses pull her hair/cut her skin). This gentle lead is great! Very sturdy and holds up even if she pulls the lead off her mouth since it still keeps her safe by being clasped around the neck (like a collar). I refuse to use a gentle lead without this safeguard because I work in a dog daycare and hear of some terrible accidents caused by dogs escaping from the “mouth only” gentle leads. The cushioning is great!! She has no marks (she marks easily) and does not display any signs of being uncomfortable. The sizing is wonderful too.My only complaint is that the clasp that holds the mouth area tight keeps coming undone during walks. My dog does not pull much on this lead and does not try to open her mouth wide at all, but it naturally does not stay clasped shut. My dog is well trained at this point, after years of wearing a gentle lead, but this would be problematic for a dog that sidewalk surfs, barks on walks, or pulls. It is important that the clasp keeps the mouth area taut (but not tight), but since the clasp doesn’t work well, it is very loose and would be troublesome with a dog that pulls/barks. E.g., my dog barked with this lead on once and the lead touched her eyes, that’s how loose it was.Since this does not pose a big problem for me and I have continued to use this gentle lead for months, I am only deducting 1 star.
