$50 knife for $100 lol
I bought this knife in 2018 for $51. 5 stars at the time because of the price and quality. The price in 2026 is not worth it unless you have money to blow and don’t kinda RELATIVELY inferior product compared to other knives in the $100 price range. It’s a very good knife, easy to sharpen, comfortable to wear, ergonomic and durable. It is a very low maintenance knife due to the steel so no need to keep it oiled. It does lose the edge faster than carbon steel but again it is easy to sharpen. The sheath is the best commercial sheath I’ve seen for a mass produced knife with multiple ways to carry it. At the time for the price it would have been an excellent knife to keep in a truck or get home bag. At the price it sits today I would rather get a cold steel srk in 3v. For a cheaper price the SRK in Sk5 is a great budget alternative for less than $40 on sale. $100 for a $50 knife in 2026 is crazy work. Forgot to mention how much I love the grip it no slipping whe wet or muddy and loved in like an extension of my hand.

Beyond my Expectation of Greatness !
Really sharp upon opening! This is all I hoped it would be. Solid is the best description I can give. Everything is just so and properly executed! I was concerned over some reviews I had read but bought it on faith in the Gerber brand! I have owned the steel 420 version for years and it is one tough knife. I bought a Spyderco para 2 with magnacut steel and have fallen in love with this grade of steel. As solid as the StrongArm Knife is I am sure it will be with me for years to come . Sharpening this steel is a challenge But you only have to touch it up every so often. I love, love, love this knife ! Get one before the price goes up on them…. Cause it will !

A different reason why I choose the Strongarm over Becker and Esee or such
1st off, I am coming from the Becker and Esee families which I owned Becker 2, 5, 7, 9, 14, 15 and Esee Izula, 4, 5, 6, Junglas. I used most of them in the passed few years and finally decided to let them go. They are great knives and you really get that "Boy, this knife is great!" feeling. However, I don't get to use/carry these knives in a day to day basis. I only take them out camping/hiking or working in the yard. Rust start to show up on these expansive knives if I don't take care of them. I wipe and dry the blades after cutting a pineapple camping. I wipe and dry the blades after gutting the fish on the trip....they rust even my sheaths are wet inside.... You get the idea? As I am getting older and lazier (no pun intended, lol), I decided to jump ship to so called "stainless" blades to suit my situation. This Strongarm cuts and chops very similar to the Beckers and Esees. I know it is not the most perfect geometry, long lasting, comfortable or eye pleasing knife to a lot of people, but I do find this knife finishes the job with ease. 1) Stainless blade - Ddon't have to deal with the rust issue, I use it and put it back to the sheath without worries. 2) Enclosed handle material - Once again, no rust inside the handle. No loosen screws to worry. Great traction to provide a firm grip. 3) Sheath - Comes with Kydex/plastic sheath with multiple carry options. Much easier to use than nylon sheath in general. 4) Price - Reasonably priced. I will not cry like my friend who lost an Esee in the woods last time. Also not afraid to beat on this thing because it is so cheap to replace. 5) Size - Great to carry without being too bulky. I do also own a SOG seal team in case I want a bigger knife for more fun. Some people will argue that we all need a super blade or blades in case we are in a "survival" situation. I agree but figure if I ever come to an situation which I manage to break my Strongarm or Seal team...... I am in a big pile of Sxxxx already and no other knives can save me from the ditch! LOL. Now I bring a tomahawk with a knife if I need to to cove the "cut" and "chop" part. IMHO from my experience: Best Kydex factory sheath: Esee Worst Kydex factory sheath: SOG Best Nylon factory sheath: SOG Worst Nylon factory sheath: Becker, Ontario With all respects, this is totally my own opinion and hope I didn't offense anybody in the knife community. LOL.

love this knife as my every carry blade.
I wear this larping, camping, hiking. I cook with it, I hunt with it, honestly its a great blade Ive bought 2 of them so that I can keep one on each of the belts i wear depending on what I am doing was worth the money. Ive personally abused one of the two blades its built well, hasnt loosened at all over use. keeps an edge.

Great knife. Made from the best knife steel. Made in the USA.
Buy this NOW. You will not be disappointed. It is a bargain. And it is USA-made, from USA steel developed by an American. The best knife steel I have ever owned. And I own a lot of knives. Gerber knocked this one out of the park. Great knife with a great blade shape and size. Grippy handle, just big enough for XL hands. Lightweight. Comes hair popping sharp. The sheath is OK, not as good as a form-fitted Kydex. But it is versatile in its carry options. Good retention. Some blade movement, but little rattle. At this price, it is an excellent value. The Gerber Strongarm Camp Magnacut is a winner.

Durable, useful, worth every penny
Best knife I've ever purchased. I'm a light camper and hiker. Nothing crazy. I like fishing too, so having this fixed blade is very helpful for everything I might need it for. It's easy to sharpen when the need arises. Awesome grip and easy to attach to a belt. I've had this blade for about 5 years now. Still holding up like it's brand new.

Excellent deal for the price.
You cannot throw sparks from a ferro rod with this knife. The spine has smoothed edges. Which is a great disappointment. Yet, it’s the cheapest full tang Magnacut knife, that comes close to 5”, that I can find in the market. On other knives that I own, I was able to file the spine to get it to spark a ferro rod. But not this knife. The magnacut is too tough and my file hardly scratched the surface. The tip is not perfectly straight. It slightly leans to one side. It did not come super sharp out the box. When I sharpened it, using my sharpening system I got from Amazon for $60, I had to use the 240 grit diamond stone for a long time to reshape the edge, Because from the factory, the tip of the knife was grinded at a different angle from the belly of the blade. I’m glad I got a knife sharpening system that maintains the same angle. Otherwise it would be a lot more challenging to sharpen. It took a while, but I got it razor sharp and slicing through paper like butter. Magnacut has excellent edge retention compared to other knives. And it’s a 7/10 for toughness according to the steel nerds website. So it’s less likely to chip or break while batoning than other steels like D2, 440c or N695. The sheath fits comfortably in my pocket while still attached to my belt and it’s super secure. Not difficult to quickly deploy and stow in the sheath.

Wow! Very Impressed!!!
I received this knife as a Father's Day gift, and all I can say is WOW! I normally don't expect very much from Gerber ever since they came out with all the lousy Bear Grylls knives that virtually break if you breath on them too hard! But after watching all of the very positive YouTube reviews on this knife, I decided I would add it to my wish list and see what all the hype was about. I must say, after using this knife for a while, I'm very pleasantly surprised! I think my opinion of Gerber may finally be changing! The knife: This knife is extremely solid in the hand! I would put it up against my ESEE4 and ESEE6 everyday of the week as far as durability goes! The diamond textured rubber overmolded grip is fantastic! Wet or dry, there is no way this knife is slipping out of your hands! The pommel of the knife sports a nice glass-breaker/attitude adjuster, that can be used for a multitude of tasks and is a handy feature to have. The black ceramic blade coating is not overly rough like the Becker and ESEE knives, which is a plus in my book! The blade looks as though it's about 3/16" thick, but Gerber did a very nice job with the saber grind and as a result, this knife cuts like a beast! Despite what some people have said in their YouTube reviews, this knife is PERFECTLY capable of making some beautiful feather sticks (as you can see by my pictures!). The grip shape is very neutral and extremely comfortable in the hand! It easily allows for a multitude of grip options which is awesome! Just a very well thought out grip! Nice job Gerber! The blade is constructed from 420HC stainless steel and holds a great edge! Gerber did an excellent job with the heat treat. The blade also came from the factory with a beautifully, symmetrically ground and very sharp edge! I'm also really happy to see that this knife was made right here in Oregon, USA! The folks over at Gerber did a very nice job finishing and sharpening this knife! The drop point blade does have an unsharpened swedge for combat and piercing applications. Sure, it will be a bit harder on your baton for bushcrafting purposes, but by no means a deal-breaker! Besides, it's nice to know that I have a knife that can handle combat and self defense roles as well! You never know when you might have to fend off a wild animal. The spine of the blade also comes ground to a very nice 90 degree angle suitable for striking a ferro rod! Another welcomed bonus! Finally, and probably the most awesome feature about the knife....NO SERRATIONS!!! FINALLY! It's about time Gerber finally produce an outdoor fixed blade knife without serrations! So enjoy this one folks because it may be a while before Gerber makes anymore plain edged knives! Lol The sheath: This sheath is probably one of the most well thought out and well executed sheaths I've ever received on a production knife! I definitely prefer this sheath to the over-praised ESEE sheaths! The sheath is constructed from a high quality thermo-plastic with plenty of rivets and lashing points for molle and paracord lashing options. The sheath also sports a detachable clip for scout-carry and can also be adjusted for another molle type carry on the back side of the sheath using a removable clip. If this weren't enough, the sheath also comes standard with high quality and well finished, thick nylon webbing for standard drop-leg belt carry options. The button snaps are very strong and quality made! I don't see this sheath having any issues whatsoever, but in the event that you ever do, Gerber has a sterling reputation as far as their customer service and warranty goes, so I don't think you'll have any worries! And for the lefties out there, this sheath is also designed to allow the user to insert the knife into the sheath in either left or right handed orientation. Great job Gerber! It's excellent to see a company finally showing us lefties some attention! Bottom line: Buy this knife! I'd certainly buy this knife again in a heart beat! This knife is certainly worth it's exceptional price point of $47 as of June, 2016. For that price, I would pick up two and put one away as a backup! I'm a strong believer of the "two is one, and one is none" motto! Highly recommended! Hopefully this knife will change a lot of people's minds about Gerber!

Also erster Test der Tragetest. Was uns sofort zum nächsten Test bringt.
