Just a matte black?** A: The finish is more matte black. You can, however use fine sandpaper to achieve a more flat finish. This would need to be done very carefully, and I cannot guarantee it will work, but it is an option. Unfortunately, I do not have more finish options available. However after using this for several projects, I have found it to be very brittle.I can get it ironed on and then when trimming the overlap with a new sharp bladed edge trimmer, it breaks and chips off.Now what to do ? I have tried not getting it too hot,but it does not stick as well. And what is too hot any way ?I do have considerable experience with products like this. The white edge banding that big box stores sell works great on melamine and trims nicely and stays stuck.I could have received a bad batch of this product, but I have many feet left of this black edge banding and I do not use it any more.I have had better luck with the white banding and then painting it black.I would not recommend this product ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Exactly what I needed to finish a major home project. *by W***Y on Reviewed in the United States on November 4, 2013* Ordered one roll to test it out, then ordered a second to finish the project.
