Dorman 310-219 Evaporative Emissions System Leak Detection Pump Compatible with Select Models,Plastic, Black and White

I got this item to try to resolve a P0456 error that was showing up on my 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee. This item looks pretty much identical to the factory model although the insides do not rattle like the factory model. That doesn’t seem to make a difference, it has been on the Jeep for three weeks and is working fine. Install really wasn’t bad. I didn’t need to takeoff the rear wheel. I did break a couple of the clips that hold the inner part of the wheel well so I ended up having to buy a few of those, but those were easy to find on Amazon. After I installed this item, I cleared the OBD code and the check engine light has not come back on. I think this did the trick!! Much better than the $300 to $400 the dealer would charge! I kind of took my time and was videoing it as I went, the whole thing took me maybe 30 minutes. No special tools required, socket, and screwdriver, pliers. Although it would’ve been handy to have the tools to remove the clips, I might’ve avoided breaking them if I had those tools. But I have them now for next time! I watched a couple of YouTube videos so I had a good idea of the procedure. It really was pretty easy.

My gas cap light came on then my check engine light on my 2016 ram 1500 with the hemi engine. Changing the gas cap didn't fix it. After watching some videos, I bought this part. Its very simple to replace and takes a few mins. Removed the hose and the small wore harness from your current valve. Theres a tab on the bottom that you have to compress and give the valve a counter clockwise twist. Make sure the orginal round seal is removed. Place the new seal in place, insert the new valve and twist it clockwise until it clicks. Reinstall the hose and harness. The gas cap light went away immediately but the check engine light took a few drives but it will eventually correct itself. Easy fix and works perfectly. A way to tell if your current valve is bad is to remove it and give it a shake. If it rattles, it's no good. There should be no noise.

Helped solve that pesky P0456 and P0457 code my ram kept showing. Just like other reviewers had stated, I thought it was the gas cap at first but after a little research I stumbled across this and tried it out. Sure enough both codes away. Installation is easy to do and helped save me tons of money from taking to the shop.

Your car or truck will tell you that your gas cap is effed. It's lying. This is the thing you need, especially if it is a Mopar. You can get a gas cap too if you want, but you only need this.
