This Complete History of Middle-earth boxed set is amazing—three hefty hardcover volumes collecting all twelve books of deep dives into the creation of Middle-earth. It's an incredible compendium: drafts, unfinished tales, maps, notes, and commentary that trace how the legendarium evolved from early myths through to The Silmarillion and The Lord of the Rings. The production quality is absolutely stunning—beautiful covers, solid binding, and the whole thing feels premium in the matching slipcase. No complaints here; it's exactly what a dedicated fan needs for exploring the full depth beyond the main stories. Worth every penny—I'll be referencing this set for years.

These books are essential for Tolkien fans or someone who is interested in learning more about Tolkiens world. This is initially a gift for my friend but I might need to buy this for myself soon.

Exceeded all expectations! Now is the time to buy - Amazon put a deep discount on these that you shouldn't pass up if you have this on your purchase radar. Chances are you've already watched the review videos so all I will add is that these look even better in hand. Printed and Bound in Italy, these are now selling in 2nd or 3rd printings. Some older reviews mention of quality control issues, but from what I can tell those seem to be 1st printings. The set I received was flawless and the quality of print and binding very good. Amazon wrapped it nicely and it arrived perfectly. I was worried that at such a discounted price that the set might be a warehouse leftover or in less than optimal condition, but I was very happy to find everything perfectly mint. Great books at a great price, and delivered with care.

This is an immense set on Tolkien's Lord of the Rings world, I believe over 6000 pages. The books are thick and heavy with Bible-thin pages and small type, but readable. The big issue is that the 3-volumes together are very heavy and the slipcase they come in not particularly sturdy. The result being that in many cases (including mine) unless this set is extremely well packed for shipping, there will likely be damage to the slipcase. Mine was damaged, but with the help of some Elmers glue and a black Sharpie pen, and patience, it was fairly repairable with just a seam or two partially split.

Outstanding compendium. A must have for any rabid middle earth fan.

The books themselves are great - well made, well bound, exactly as I expected and wanted them to be. However the slipcover was a little damaged on arrival - whether during shipping or not I'm not sure. The price point from Amazon vs other stores made me willing to risk it. The damage to the slipcover is on the back side and won't be visible on a shelf. I bought these books to read, not collect, so I'm not super worried about it. If a pristine set is important to you, then you should probably buy it elsewhere.

Great service! The package was in pristine condition. It was a cheap product, but it is not usual to cost less than 200 euros. The UPS staff, who were responsible for delivering to my home, stated that they attempted delivery but did not contact me. I am going to quote them: "Held for pickup at carrier location. Delivery attempted today at 2:02 PM. Unfortunately, UPS couldn't complete your delivery and is holding it for you to pick up. We're very sorry for the inconvenience." They provided bad service.

Well so far so good. As expected the box that house the books is a wreck but since I do not really need it in the space in my library I do not care that much. A little more concern issue is this little problem in the right bottom corner of the third part book, but then again should I ask for a replacement knowing that the problem might be worst. I will check the 1 and 2 star just to make sure that there is no more problem.

La edición es muy bonita y práctica. El papel, aunque delgado, es de buena calidad y permite la lectura sin transparentarse. El contenido aborda aspectos bastante profundos del Legendarium de una manera que permite comprender el proceso creativo de Tolkien. Sin embargo, son libros para quienes ya tienen una sólida familiaridad con la mayoría de los libros de Tolkien sobre la Tierra Media: El Hobbit, El Señor de los Anillos, El Silmarillion, Cuentos inconclusos, Los hijos de Hurin, Beren y Lúthien y La caída de Gondolin. De otra manera, resultarán tediosos e incomprensibles para los lectores casuales que sólo conocen las novelas que el autor completó en vida.
