Ideal if you want something modern without too many confusing features
I chose this device to replace a failed vintage analogue unit. Its simple to operate, does not have confusing or unnecessary features or timers to set. As others have pointed out, its a bit smaller than the previous device and a small amount of patching plaster was needed. Its a two wire install, a simple 'dry contact' switch - if you have an older 3 wire install it can still be used. There's little programming to be done, no clocks, timers etc. Just set the temperature you want. There are two presets that you can use and modify, to quickly set a day and night temperature at the push of a button. Tale a moment to read the instructions and set the DIP switches inside. I'd suggest a 20 minute cycle, and conventional - I found the factory set 'proportional adaptive' setting an issue, it kept turning on and off too frequently, since the boiler has some of its own flow and temperature adaptions, and they seemed to be in constant argument. This may be the issue others have hinted on saying its 'clicking on and off a lot'. Further, the pump cycle option is pretty pointless if you also have a central heating timer elsewhere as most have - it cant exercise the pump if the timer is off, and most of us turn this to off during the summer months. Overall its a tidy and simple unit and does the job without fuss. The hysteresis - the amount it overshoots and undershoots the preset temperature to stop it hunting seems to be about 0.5 degrees and not adjustable - (some you can change) but unless your house is terribly insulated or your windows are open this wont be an issue.

Great replacement for Mechanical stat.
Bought to replace old noisy mechanical stat. Much more accurate and reactive than the old mechanical it replaced . It also gives the added advantage of having a digital thermostat on the wall too! Easy installation and operation .

Honeywell MT1 Thermostat(THR830T) Perfect Mechanical Thermostat & Accurate Temp.
This review is for the Honeywell Home MT1 Thermostat (THR830T) It works Perfectly! BUT... only when correctly wired. The Honeywell wiring instructions on the leaflet are incorrect! The wiring as illustrated below and as shown in photo are per my certified electrician. My Honeywell T1 Mechanical thermostat to control for my ceiling mounted Infrared panel heater is connected to the circuut controlled directly to my Eddi Solar Diverter which is connected to the Electrical Distribution Board. Check compatibility of your chosen thermostat. Eg The Eddi Solar Diverter is ONLY compatible with mechanical thermostats NOT digital. PLEASE NOTE the installatiin wiring instructions are NOT correct for all configurations. Consult an electrician if in doubt or if the Honeywell instructions don't work). The wire connection terminals are along the top of the thermostat with each terminal having a corresponding number 1-4 + terminal for earth (NB if you use the Earth terminal on the thermostat then your supply cable earth MUST be on the electrical circuit that traces back to the Distribution Unit. Instead of using the Honeywell thermostat earth terminal you can use a connector block to join the Supply & Heater Earth wires as in my photo. I used a 47mm patress box that clips securely to the plasterboard, which is deep enough to conceal earths connected by terminal block, behind the Honeywell Thermostat backplate. The correct wire/terminal configuration for my installation is as follows, using the numbers embossed on the thermostat plastic plate :- 1. 'L' Mains Supply 2. 'N' Mains+Heater (ie 2 x Neutrals) 3. 'L' Heater/Load 4 Empty

Replacement thermostat
I bought this stat to replace my existing analogue version. It's a very smart looking unit and does a lot for the money and is easy to operate. Fitting the unit was quite fiddly especially as the fixing holes are totally different from a standard stat. Also the cable entries are very small meaning I had to put the cable excess into the wall void by channeling out some of the plaster. It's very well made and I did like the fact it has a finger guard over the live wires for when you need to replace the batteries. The display is very clear and seems to be accurate at temperature reading, general operation is easy but the instructions are useless, there is a certain amount of self learning with this device as it calculates how long it takes to get the room to the desired temperature. There are modes for holiday, eco and comfort and an option to run the pump once every 24hrs for a minute to prevent pump seizing a very handy feature along with a built in frost stat setting. Very pleased with it overall but only been using it for a couple of weeks and the learning feature is now perfect it is so cosy in the house. I have had people ask about getting it to work there are some DIP switches in the back of the unit these need to be set to get it to work correctly, if you find it won't call the boiler to run change switch 3 to a different position.

Very usable after correcting the production mis-assembly
Instructions are clear to those with knowledge, not so great for those who don't. Mine was 4 graduations out of calibration, the graduations are not in actual degrees centigrade so was equivalent to about 6 degC! However it is possible to adjust the position of the dial/knob (it can be pulled off the adjustment spindle) and reinstalled) to be much more accurate with some trial and error. So marked down for bad production assembly. The actual On/Off control range is quite acceptably fine.

Needs a back plate as quite deep. Easy wiring install
Very easy to install if you know how to (obviously). Read up on this and other models. I even went into copilot and to show/tell me how to wire the unit. First things first. When i took off my old Honeywell thermostat it was simply screwed into wall via raw plugs. You have to have a wall back plate for this. So i bought one via amazon. Grinded out a hole (the unit is quite small, so i had to make good with filler. But it does line up with a standard size back plate - best to get a deep one). And i must say, it worked spot on. Here's the following that worked for me. Behind my old Honeywell thermostat i found 4 wires. Red, Blue, Yellow, and Yellow/Green. Now i Know Yelloe/Green is Earth. I know Red is Live. I know Blue is Neutral and I know Yellow is a Conductor or Command called a Switch Wire. This last cable is the most important to know as it tells the boiler to turn on and off. So if you do not have my colour wires find out what you have - ask copilot or read somewhere. With the info, make safe your power supply toand from the boiler (i just turned the whole switchboard off) Get your old wires ready - you ONLY need two. They are Live (red or maybe Brown) and the Command/Conductor wire (Yellow or what ever yours is). Cap off and make safe any thing else ie neutral and earth. I found using lightweight/smaller additionals were the best way forward to input into the rear of the new themostat as they are very small access hole with small screws to tighten. I then put these two wires into a small block connector each, then fixed the wires for the boiler to them. Tuck everything in the back plate. Add two batteries (not supplied in the rear of the device) this is for the fuctionanability of the device (it does NOT use 240v from main to do this part). Offer the rear of the thermostat to the wall back plate, fix in with standard screws. Put front cover on carefully. Screw in from bottom as provided. And get going. The batteries have now allowed you to controll the on/off. Clock Control and the programmer function. Now wait a day, sand the filler and paint - job done.

Nice quality unit
Nice replacement for my old room 'stat which had failed. I decided to go for Honeywell as it was a direct replacement for the ancient original. This fitted perfectly and has a nice rounded look and solid feel. Almost £10 cheaper than local supplier and same day - free delivery - great service.

Really easy to use smart thermostat
This thermostat offers you a sophisticated control at a budget price. Last year I replaced the heating system in my house with a heat pump. The house has 3 levels, so we want to be able to set the temperature Independently for each level. For this reason, I use 3 thermostats (one on every floor). This thermostat is very easy to use. You can get a temperature manually OR you can determine 4 time zones per day and set a temperature for each time zone. So you want your living room to be 22.5C between 6 pm and 10 pm and 19C during the night, but 21C when you wake up at 7am and then 20C between 10 am and 6pm, its possible. The unit works well straight out of the box, but there is a number of settings that you can change to fine tune your heating. E.g to adjust the speed of increase/decrease of the temp as the thermostat tries to optimise the temperature changes. Some of the changes you can make are: 1, Cycles per day (PPd) :should you prefer less time zones per day , you reduce it to either 2, or zero zones. You can adjust this for each day separately 2. Modify the heating cycles (CPH): sets the time between 10 and 30 minutes that your heating will be activated each time until the desired temperature is reached. So the heating does not need to run continuously, the comfort level is increased and you save on fueler electricity 3. Modify the Frost protection setpoint (HLd) 4. Early Start (ES): This lets the thermostat decide when it should start to reach your desired temperature at the right time. 5: Pump protection: Specifically for hot water installations this option lets you activate the pump for 15 seconds each day to avoid the pump seizing up. Since the change my house is always perfectly warm and comfy and the Thermostats are a big part of this. I have even bought some spare units to be sure that if one of them fails I have a spare one to replace it with. What I probably like most about this unit is how easy it is to use and program. Everything is obvious, so there is no need to constantly refer to a manual even when you havent used the unit for a few months during the summer. Maybe you will forget the special settings, but the basic operation (temperature zones etc.) you will not forget. Highly recommended
