Big and beautiful, this bible is everything I hoped it would be for my home study at the kitchen table. As some have noted, it's large and hefty, but I don't plan on carrying it around. The end of page notes are fascinating and illuminating. The articles and helps are extensive and useful. It's easy to disappear into a deeper dive than you had planned on as you read the end notes.I expect to spend many an enlightening hour with this edition. I have a NASB study bible but the words flow a little smoother with ESV and it's the translation my church has adopted.

When they say “study”, they’re not kidding! Nearly 3,000 pages; maps, history, you name it. English Standard Version is easier for me to read than King James Version, but I still feel that it conveys meaning and nuance accurately. The study notes are very good about discussing various alternate interpretations which is good, as there are discrepancies of opinion among credible scholars. It’s as if God wants us to check it out then follow our own heart…imagine that! If more study will help someone become a better Christian, this is a great place to start. Finally, the book is top notch material and construction, heirloom quality befitting God’s Word.

I purchased the ESV large font black leather thumb indexed study bible. The translation uses the latest in scholarship and manuscript finds. The study notes, while protestant, are fairly neutral and very faithful to mainline understanding of holy scripture. The font used is gorgeous and this Bible lays flat with a tight sewn binding. For the lack of a better word this Bible is sumptuous and hard to put down with the great notes, articles and amazing graphics included. My edition had black and white pics not color but it's fine. I collect bibles and this is one of my crown jewels 👑

I am so glad I exchanged for the large print. It is so much easier to read. The height and width of the Bible are the same as the regular bible. It is slightly thicker. They just reformatted the pages to fit. They did an outstanding job. I would get the large print even if I had perfect eyesight. Compared to the regular print, the illustrations are “2 color” instead of full color and the Bible text is 2 column instead of 1 column. In my opinion, these are minor concessions. I also like the indexing which helps me navigate quicker.

Beautiful bible but very heavy. Best if you want to sit at a table but gets wearisome holding for any length of time.

Good quality study bible should last a long time just what is needed for more detailed look at scripture etc

I had some vouchers and with advice selected this item as my new Bible. Many issues that I mention below are just me and should not really detract from the item unless they would be an issue for you. The issues are often clear from the item description so is not a failing on Amazon or the producer. It also was an edition that matched my basic requirements in my price range. I could have found one better suited to me but not at a price I could justify.It's leather bound (genuine leather is likely pig skin) and it sits nice and flat from Genesis 1 to Revelation 24. It uses the ESV but unfortunately not Anglicised so has weird colonial spellings and words. The ESV is not a translation I would naturally migrate to but it is a good one and much better than KJV. The print is a bit big but it is a large print edition, since it will last a long time it will cope with failing eyesight as I age further. The study notes are clear and the ones I have followed very helpful but there are so many of then that together with the large text print can mean that some pages have only 5 verses of scripture and the rest of the page is notes.The pages to print is a bit small and this means it is quite thick (3,000 pages) and weighs just shy of 2kg. This is not a volume you want to carry around and hold out to read long passages from, but then it's not intended for that use.Another issue I had is that I ordered the 2020 edition, the ISBN on the box matched the order but the Bible in the box was an earlier edition. This is not something either Amazon nor the retailer (Eden Books) would be aware of. I contacted Eden Books and we concluded that there was no significant difference in the editions that would warrant sorting out a return and replacement. This is likely something done by Crossway (publisher) as the ISBN on the box was an adhesive label covering the printed detail, naughty Crossway. The date on the title page indicates a 2016 printing.Overall this is a good Bible and I would recommend it. Personally I would have liked anglicised text, red letter and probably smaller print but that isn't what I ordered or what this item promises. (There are versions probably closer to what I would have liked but cost more than double what I paid for this.)
