I probably could have gotten away with the 3XL. I wouldn't call this a boatneck top, but it's close to it. The sleeves hit me just above the elbow, which is what I wanted. Based on the picture, I thought the bottom was banded, but it really has elastic sewn into the sides for that ruched look. The material is thin, I'm not sure if you have to wear a cami underneath, but I do when I wear it.
