Too good to cook

Cast Iron, it's nice and heavy sturdy, the size is lovely and big at a massive 8L. when used properly it cooks to perfection distributing the heat across the whole pot, but amazingly the handle stay cool enough to handle. It comes with a great little booklet on how to care for it, i reccomend seasoning it straight away. I unfortunately left it out overnight on first use and it got some rust, but the advice to rectify it helped and it was perfect back to use straight away. I use this for evening fire pit get togethers and cook everything in it: soups, broths, casseroles, baked potatoes, and the lid turns into almost a flat pan when flipped! so frying is possible. I Would recommend for anyone looking for a big cast iron fire pit dutch oven.

First thing, it's Huge!!! I bought this size for a family of 4 with two very healthy male eaters, but it is still a little bit too big. It came all the way from Italy so it took a while to arrive. I suspect it is a second because one of the legs is slightly bent and the pot is very rough to touch. It says it does not need seasoning but the coating left a black oil slick on the food. So I threw the food away and seasoned it 3 times with vegetable shortening before I used it. I would definitely recommend buying one, but know what you are getting into before buying one, as they take a bit of care so that they do not rust. I have used it a lot and even though it is ridiculously heavy, I would say it is a very good bit of camping equipment for cooking on a camp fire off grid.

This iron pot is just what I needed as I have anaemia so it helps increase my iron levels slightly - plus I love cooking big pots of food! I was wary, as I’d had an iron pot before (purchased elsewhere), but was a nightmare to clean & also left us with black bits coming off from the inside of the pot & into our food. After going thru tons of reviews for iron pots recently, this one came up tops. So I decided to give it a go and am so glad I did!! Its perfect in every way! It fits on our hob for indoor cooking & also outdoors on the bbq. The food has not stuck on the base (so far!). It keeps food piping hot for as long as you need... (even when off the heat) the lid is slightly heavy but easy to lift with the accessory included. Its easy to clean with warm water & a clean sponge. I clean & rinse it and put it on the hob at a very low temperature until all signs of water has evaporated & it’s completely dry. I then use a little greaseproof paper to rub coconut oil (I use organic) over the entire inside surface. It goes on easily as it melts a little because the pot is still warm. I cover and then it’s ready to use & oiled for next time. This cleaning method has worked well for me, so far! Did I mention it’s also great for entertaining due to its size. I made a big pot of Thai green curry in it tonight & am looking forward to experimenting more in future. Thanks for a fantastic product :-)

A great quality cast iron pot. Good family size. Will definitely last a lifetime.

These are such great pots for outdoor Fire pits. Stews, Currys, Poytjie, oasts, come one come all. They are a little tough to clean and maintain given their cast iron construction, but worth it for outdoor dining, and wonderful particularly in the summer or drier months. I'd really love a series that is enamel coated for those more acidic foods, as these can be particularly difficult to maintain, and care is needed with any acidic foods. Just make sure you season them after this kind of use.

Fantastic bit of kit used this dutch oven quite a bit on my kamado for currys stews and 🌶 chilli con carne 😋 heavy duty solid bit of kit.

I love this heavy solid caldron. Very well built and cooks evenly if you pop some charcoals on the top as they recommend. A stew on an open fire. Can't beat it!
