These thing won't actually "soften" until around 600 degrees F. So, don't bother. Don't try to mount these without protecting them from the threads first. You might think you've got it after you get it over the first thread and then follow the threading around until it sits at the bottom, but what you may not immediately realize is that you just sliced the crap out of the seal and it WILL eventually leak, like mine did. You MUST protect the seal from the sharpness of the threads while going on. I've heard people having luck with electrical tape. I used heat shrink. It worked great. I heated up all sides until I could see the threading imprint.
