The sluice can be configured as either a bank robber or a river robber. When you purchase a new sluice it will be configured as a bank robber, as that is how they come out of the mold & are safer to ship. If you take a saw & cut the back off the Inlet side it becomes a river robber. See details below. The sluice is made of high impact ABS plastic & will take a lot of abuse, but should you ever get a crack or chip in it, it can be welded with ABS glue, available at almost any hardware store. The riffles are two-step with a ramp. This allows the sluice to be self-cleaning. it has a self-cleaning tray on the left hand side which makes it easy to tilt up into your pan & splash water into it for the final quick & easy clean up. When using this sluice as a bank or bar concentrator, a spray system should be used at the upper end of the sluice. In order to operate this sluice in a stream, you need fast water. The closed end of the bank robber sluice can be cut out, creating the river robber sluice. For rigidity, leave part of the end on both sides. Because the sluice is approximately 4 LB, it is easy to back Pack. In working this box, water should run through very rapidly, about 2" deep, which keeps the riffles clean & will leave the gold & very little concentrates. Review: Great sluice for small gold - I own several gold sluice boxes and the Le Trap is by far the best for really small gold. Just wish it came precut or with a templete but was not too difficult to cut myself. I modified mine with two carring handles that could support the weight of a brick to hold it down in the water. Just came back from my favorite sluice spot and I can tell you I am very happy with the Le Trap. I classified to 1/4" and this baby made some very nice cons. If you try to cut carefully the top of it can work well in streams, rivers and some creeks with fast water running through it. The 4 stars because is an excellent equipment and not 5 stars because is overpriced, as a high banker this item alone is incomplete (you need the stand or legs, a pump and a classifier at the top). Made of bendable high quality plastic and looks that can break easily. The company says that you can use glue and connect the parts if broken but since then, its a perfect solution to catch the gold. I suggest to use this as a high banker and use another sluice box at the bottom made of rubber to catch even ultra fine gold.
