Beware two VERY SIMILAR Kidde model numbers. This specific model (i9010) is listed on the Kidde site as ionization-sensor only, NOT dual, despite other postings on this page. Unfortunately, I bought 3 units of this i9010, which I will now throw away: $70-ish bucks down the drain because I was lazy and mistook it for the PI9010. I think that in Kidde-model-numbering-language, “iXXXX” means “ionization”, and “PIXXXX” means “photoelectric AND ionization, aka dual-sensor”. “Dual sensor” is important: they’re better at detecting fires, which is the whole point. A prominent, independent, consumer produCt testing oRganization in 2018 rated smoke detectors for how well they actually detect fires, and the ONLY type they recommend is DUAL-sensor. That's what I want. If you need a battery-powered alarm, I recommend the First Alert SA3210. (If you can use hard-wired units, do so: there are several choices, and they require less maintenance.) The First Alert SA3210 is dual-sensor, and has a 10-year battery. Downside: it’s more expensive, but that’s what I’m buying. The SA3210’s UPC is 29054014665, per manufacturer’s site. The Kidde PI9010 is dual-sensor, with 9 volt battery, which needs changing. The First Alert SA320 is dual-sensor, with 9 volt battery, which needs changing. Separate item I learned along the way: I do not want a combination (smoke+CO) alarm. Carbon monoxide does not move like smoke moves. Smoke detectors should be up on the ceiling, but since CO is virtually the same density as room air, I will put the CO alarms closer to the elevation of a sleeping person’s head. **Q: how do u mount this to ceiling? can i use self stick instead of screws etc?** A: I don't see why not . Just be sure you mount the ring so you can screw on and off the main unit. You might even try heavy duty sticky back Velcro. **Q: To seller: you show every angle except the connector. can you share an image of the connector?** A: Not sure what you mean by connector You get the base plate , 2 screws and the unit Use the 2 screws to mount the base plate the place the bottom of the unit into the blade plate slots and turn Unit is installed **Q: Does the led light blink during normal use--if it is in the bedroom, this may be an issue for me?** A: well the light is RED and not Green as advertised pictures show and RED light blinks every 40 seconds like the instructions state.
