Device works well, trust the diagram include.
Manufacturer has corrected the diagram that comes with the device. One of the other reviewers indicated that some of the posted wiring diagrams are not correct and the device does not work in the way that they described it. Itโs a long story short trust the diagram that comes with the device, it is correct. The device works perfectly. I love the quality of the case and all the components. I will see how it goes long-term so there may be a future update to this review. Iโm running a 12 V deep cycle lead acid battery with a solar panel to several low-voltage landscape lights and internal lights to a storage building. This allows me to have lighting inside and outside the building at night and a more has a more aesthetically pleasing around our storage building.

Wonky wire colors
Good product for operating outdoor lights. Compact. Nice slow response so it won't go off and on when it's a cloudy evening. I'm using it on a 12v backyard light setup. The only criticism is their choice of wire colors. There are three wires, Red, Black and White. For some reason: WHITE goes to POSITIVE of the battery BLACK goes to NEGATIVE of the battery RED goes to the low side of the load. This is a low side switch. That is, it closes the negative terminal to the RED wire when the ambient is sufficiently dark. You have to permanently connect the high side of the load to the Positive of the DC power source. I've drawn a schematic for clarity on this. Using the RED wire for the switch output is unconventional. Anywhere else the RED =+, BLACK=- and WHITE=Switched output. NOT THIS SWITCH Furthermore the instructions threaten that if you miswire it, you will damage it!

Save your money, look for another brand.
Unit was wired in to a DC circuit per instructions to turn on some low voltage LED lighting powered with a 12 volt battery. When darkness fell, unit did not turn on the lights despite the fact that the battery had 12.8 volts on it. Only when the unit was tapped from behind with a finger did it turn the lights on, after an audible click. The unit turned the lights off when daylight arrived, but when darkness fell it once again required the finger tap. By the time this was discovered packaging had already been disposed of so no qualifying return. Not worth the trouble anyway, and they won't simply replace it. Defective relays, and when it doesn't work it's a lot of trouble to replace and return. In a word, junk. They should be using solid state relays. They don't stick and they're not that expensive any more.

Many sellers for this part, but this one sends a correct wiring diagram.
Do not wire per the diagram on the housing of the part. The device is actually a low-side switch. If you connect it as shown on the device, using conventional current per the first world, then you will let the magic smoke out of the part. This vendor provides a supplemental wiring diagram shipped with the part that shows how to connect it properly. Seems to work great.

Instant response photocell.
It works well controlling my landscape lighting. It has an instant response. Great price. It was easy to install and wiring diagram was straight forward. The ony issue that may be a concern is if there is a thunderstorm at night, the flash of lightning may cause the landscape lighting to cycle on and off, because there is no time delay function in the photocell.

2 years
We had a good run, after two working years, it stopped working.

So far, so good
Works as expected. I've mounted the sensor on the bottom of my application and it senses dusk to dawn just fine. The best wiring diagram I've seen is from Amazon reviewer Gloria J, posted here without her permission but with credit.
