## Description

The Babyface Pro has yet again perfectly illustrated RME’s longstanding commitment to high-end craftsmanship and design expertise, not just in audio circuitry and driver development, but also in mechanics. Manufactured with precision from a block of aluminium, this pro-grade, yet easily portable interface features newly designed analogue and digital circuitry. The incorporation of energy saving technologies provide unmatched fidelity with zero compromise in level, noise or distortion. The main I/O on the Babyface sports a completely newly designed XLR socket, which sits nicely on the rear panel of the chassis and saves space. The dual headphone outs offer both TRS and mini-jack sockets, each of these have their own independent driver stages to perfectly sync low and high impedance headphones, ensuring professional audio quality is delivered regardless of what type of headphone is utilised. Two digitally controlled preamps deliver individually switchable 48v Phantom Power. These newly designed circuits boast a gain range of 76dB, adjustable in 1dB increments, a relay-driven PAD, which delivers incredible EIN (Equivalent Input Noise) performance as well as line overload protection, and plenty of gain for even the lowest level microphones. The admirably efficient design of the Babyface Pro means that you’ll almost never have the need for an external power supply, it’s perfectly capable running on USB 3 bus power, aswell as most USB 2 ports, without any loss of performance or technical specification degradation. This makes the Babyface Pro a great choice for mobile studio use. The long list of impressive features does not stop there, the Babyface Pro has an optical TOSLINK I/O; able to be used as an ADAT port with SMUX support or SPDIF for sessions upto 192kHz

Review: Outstanding - Have used several DA/AD converters of all types (ARC, THX, Rode, Shure, etc.) all bought from desertcart. All adequate and similar in performance as one would expect, in a very competitive field. Then I tried the Babyface: Mein Got, ausgezeichnet (which translates to “Wow” I think). It leaves all the aforementioned in the dust. Built like a brick outhouse, outstanding clarity, excellent dynamic range, ultra-low distortion, etc. Everything one can ask for. The software is a tad complicated and can be improved (for example, I’d like the ability to delete inactive items to simplify the visuals) but once you master its flexibility, you overlook the minor flaws. The Babyface Pro TS is the updated version of the original Babyface and you can tell that RME has sweated over the details. Now I understand why it and its larger siblings have taken the audio world by storm. Well done RME. An excellent product, highly recommended. If you are even semi-serious about high end audio, don’t bother with anything else.
