Robust, Reliable, and Roomy: A Comprehensive Review of the UP-5 Tent
I was initially hesitant to invest in the UP-5 tent due to limited reviews and seemingly sparse documentation. However, having experienced its quality firsthand, I'm eager to contribute a thorough review. Quality: The UP-5 impresses with its full double-wall construction and thick, durable fabric. The single-material outer shell incorporates a stove jack, two windows, two doors, and a stove vent. Eight poles feature dual tie-outs, potentially preventing collapse under heavy snow loads. Additional tie-outs along wall panels maximize interior space. The tent's interior fabric varies, with a breathable white material on the upper half. Wide-toothed zippers, strong snaps for hanging items, and versatile door and window closures showcase meticulous attention to detail. Abundant pocket panels and two hanging organizers enhance organizational capabilities. The overall craftsmanship surpassed my expectations. Size: The tent's roominess accommodated various configurations, including a stove, chairs, end table, dog bed, and inflatable queen bed without feeling crowded. Performance: Tested in temperatures as low as the high 20s (F), the stove effortlessly warmed the tent. The stove's glass provided a cozy glow, and radiant heat effectively increased warmth. I anticipate optimal performance during Midwest winter adventures. Adaptability: The UP-5 is inherently adaptable, and the manufacturer includes spare parts, extra panels for window configuration changes, and replacement materials for the stove glass. The swing door is a significant convenience, simplifying entry and exit during the day. Things to Consider: The tent's heavy-duty construction makes it heavy, requiring owners to manage its size and weight. While setup is straightforward, it demands strength, particularly when activating the 'umbrella' mechanism. Customer Service: I had positive interactions with RBM's customer service, resolving carrier-related issues promptly. Their responsiveness, helpfulness, and accommodation left a lasting positive impression. Overall: I am exceedingly pleased with my UP-5 purchase. Its quality, adaptability, and performance make it a worthwhile investment for those seeking a reliable and spacious tent for diverse outdoor adventures.

High quality product
Waited to review until I had used the stove. Tent up-5 and ground mat shipped quickly, stove took a little more time, but it was worth the wait. Tent is very spacious, quick to set up and take down. People say its hard to open, it did require some effort but I did not think it was excessive. If stakes and guylines are used properly this thing is quite stable even in very bad weather. Id watched many reviews on youtube but was still impressed with it when I first set it up. The stove is fantastic. It appears that there have been some minor improvements since some recent reviews I have seen, the stove is tightly manufactured, very easy to set up, fired right up with little fuss and worked great, and between the design of the stove itself and the chimney there is almost no particulate that escapes so the odds of that starting a fire on your tent or around is basically zero. Of course this setup also came with lots of bells and whistles, great carrying bags, lots of line, stakes, material patches, fireproof fabric for around stove, and even some spare parts for the stove in case the glass sides get broken. Anyway I am happy with it all, it is an expensive rig but in my opinion worth the price. The UP-5 is too bulky and heavy to be suitable for backpacking but if you are looking for a setup for car/atv/snowmobile camping, a base camp setup, or even portable ice fishing rig (floors can open up in sections for ice hole) you can't go wrong with it.

Great product but even better service!!
This is an amazing product. Not just the tent but the stove as well. RBM pays attention to details in their tents that seem simple but make a huge difference. The inner lining not only creates an effective insulator on the inside but acts to help limit condensation on the inside of the tent. This is key in that your gear like a sleeping back and clothing will not collect condensation and get moist. Important in cold weather. Even location of vents both on the floor near the stove, to facilitate flow to the stove and out the stove pipe, and on the walls of the tent to help control venting and keeping fresh air coming in the tent as needed. Steel ring on the pipe vent is something many hot tents don't have but this one does that helps protect tent material from hot stove pipes. Also included is a removable heat shield up the inside of the tent where the stove is placed to protect the tent inner wall from heat exposure from the vent pipe. The stove design is very unique and effective. Always concerned about sparks hitting the tent on the outside even with suppressors on the vent cap. But the stove is designed with a double layer top on the inside of the stove that channels the smoke around the top in a separate compartment and out the stove pipe. This top compartment in the stove is a built in spark suppressor that effectively minimizes, if not eliminates, sparks going up the chimney pipe. Plenty of hooks and compartments on the inside to help organize gear. As good as the product is, the service is even better. Polite and professional but extremely responsive to any and all concerns. THey back their products 110% and are there to assist with any questions or concerns you may have. Ships quickly. I can't say enough about the great experience I had with this young company. I like to reward service before the sale with purchases when I'm researching products for a certain application. I will be coming back to RBM in the future for any other hot tent camping needs..

Awesome tent!
We love this tent. As long time backpackers we struggled with the thought of getting a RV when we started having kids. The Russian Bear was the perfect fit for us living in Alaska. The tent is easy to set up, the stove is fantastic keeping the tent nice and warm. When we had a shipping problem customer service went above and beyond to ensure our camping trip went on without issues. Highly recommend this product!

Love it, but ...
Difficult to set up and the tent is quite heavy. It took two people and the use of a 2x4 by 4ft piece of lumber to support & keep the center held up while pulling down on the "rod" in the center which "opens" the umbrella. The instruction manual was not helpful. Neither is this. But really, the manual? ...that should have been waay more than what it was (which was basically advertisements for all the other RBM tents). The tent has two entrances (doors), each with 3 layers: Inside door, Mesh door, and Exterior door. They can be tied back individually. I don't expect to need the netting during winter, so that one gets a permanent tie-back. It's kind of a drag to have to zip open two doors and close them again. Hence: there is an additional door called a WING Door. The WING door: arrives in a "floppy" position and needs to be aggressively FORCED into the ridge position which then holds the shape of a rectangle. This WING door can then be "velcro'd" into the right side of one of the two doors. Yes: the WING door can only be placed on one side, so choose wisely when setting up the floor plan. The STOVE: I was so excited to use the stove; so my first night in the tent was also the coldest night with temperatures below freezing. First: the wood stove that came with this tent heated the inside too much and I had top open windows and door top zippers (the heat was mostly at the top of the dome). Then: as I snuggled down to sleep, the fire went out and I was so cold, I had to get up to restart the wood stove. I had to do this three times during the night with, you know: rinse'n'repeat. Like groundhog night in a tent. The INSULATION floor. This might also be called the Ground Cover. It has the matching, dark green camouflage on one side and a lighter camouflage on the reverse side. I discovered, after setting up my tent, that it works best as a Ground Cover. It has reinforced "slots" where the legs of the tent would rest, and its own Tiedown loops at the corners. It's larger than the floor tent by several inches. But I put in on the inside of the tent and just tucked under the extra inches at the edges. Be smarter than me and use it like a Ground Cover tarp. Oh, and this is an 8-sided tent. Forgot to mention that. Yeah, I thought it was a Hexagon not an Octagon... so there's that... Thanks for reading...

Great customer service!!
This tent seems a lot smaller than pictures. Also it came with 17 tent stakes, however, it needed 14 more to utilize all the tie outs that make it as roomy as possible. The door does not cover the opening. There is a 4 inch gap even with only using 1/2 of the velcro strip for the attachment. We tried to adjust the tent thinking that maybe we had stretched too tight and that was why the door didnt fit. It wasn't. We also had to buy a special pad for under the stove. Should have been included. It is built sturdy. The other points mentioned are a disappointment for how much money we spent. Update- RBM contacted me and will be sending more tent stakes and a door that fits. They have also been very generous in providing a 20% refund. I really appreciate their customer service! Very happy! Everything has been taken care of by customer service. I couldn't ask for better! Great job RBM!

Capacity of UP-2 Russian Bear Tent NOT as Advertised!!
UPDATE: RBM phoned me this morning and have offered a very generous solution to the space issues. They really do care about customer satisfaction. Will add more as the issue is dealt with. I appreciate their reaching out to me. Earlier Review: While the tent measurements of 11 ft diameter is accurate, the advertisements, RBM Outdoors and Amazon website listings, photos, company diagrams and Photoshopped images are extremely misleading! The company implies and claims that 1-5 people can sleep in this hot tent, this is NOT even close to the truth! I could not even fit my 72" tent cot in, so I tried a small air mattress instead and still could not fit the tent stove and a 2nd person in there. Therefore this isn't even a 2-person Winter tent! I've never seen an influencer video showing 2 or more people using cots in one of these. Why not? I saved for a year for this product and am very disappointed in its overrated capacity. I bought it for my family of three to use and find it is only spacious enough for one person and an electric heater if it is cold outside. Two people can sleep in there without the stove but not both on cots! Besides all this, a set of tent stakes and the advertised storage pockets were also missing from the package. To be fair, the company compensated me with $100 but the stakes and pockets are still missing from the kit and the storage bag is not the one advertised. Needless to say, my family is disappointed with me for this expensive purchase. We were all looking forward to a 4-season tent the 3 of us could actually camp in together. I am going to ask the company for some kind of compensation seeing as the tent is too small for 3 average-sized people to camp in, as I now cannot afford the vestibule that would expand its size. Will update this review if RBM Outdoors responds.
