Incredible value, perfect for the home studio, learning, etc.
I bought this a few weeks ago. I own about 18-20 guitars, and have played for close to 35 years. I have guitars worth $3,000+, and a few stinkers too. I didn't expect much from this bass, but I didn't care, just needed something for some backing tracks in my home studio. "How bad can it be?", I thought. The first one that was delivered was unfortunately damaged. It was playable, but I'm guessing it got dropped on it's face, as the knobs had cracked through to the bottom cavity. It is only wrapped in foam and in a cardboard box, so I wasn't surprised. There were also some paint defects that I could've lived with, but the cracked knob area was a deal breaker. FORTUNATELY, the awesome Amazon had replacement in my hands in two days. Additionally, it was basically flawless. No defects, etc. The pots are a bit wanky, but they just need some break in, I guess. This time it was wrapped better, had a paper cover around the strings, and just seemed "new". I'm betting the last one was returned and somehow ended up in the normal stock. Don't care, Amazon always makes it right. Anyway, I'm blown away. It's a bolt-on, but seems well built. Strings aren't clanking around, stays in tune, sounds good, looks good. I have zero complaints (other than the pots). Still worth every dime.

Very nice but the manner in which it was shipped not so nice
Ordered this as a simple practice/extra bass for jamming with my buddies on occasion. The good - it's very nice. Looks great. Good sound. Well made. Sturdy. I like the clean black look. It plays well out of the box and with some tuning will be fine for my needs. The bad - it was shipped in its own box which had almost no padding - just three small pieces of styrofoam to hold it in place, so it was loose and not secure, and that box was unceramoniously "dumped" into a much larger box where the whole sheebang just bounced around and could have gotten beaten up. Frankly I'm shocked it made it to my front door with no damage. Amazon (and their vendors) usually does a great job on shipping and packing but this time the dropped the ball big time. It was only a matter of luck the thing wasn't toast when it arrived. So, yeah, I give the bass 4 stars, but the shipping a big fat goose egg this time.....

Go to a pawn shop
Received item in pieces. Even if it wasn't broken the fretboard hit the strings and made it really difficult to play. Return the bass and got a refund.

Nice, fun bass for a good price
This Dean has been really fun to play on, and I'm very happy with the quality, considering the lower cost of it. I haven't played in years, so I needed something decent to play on that wouldn't break the bank. Everything feels really good and sturdy after just a couple adjustments to the bridge and nut. The tools needed for those adjustments come in the packaging. It sounds pretty good, so I think the single pickup does it's job here. It's fairly lightweight, and the neck is easy to maneuver around on. The one gripe I could have is one others have mentioned on here -- it isn't packaged well enough to withstand damage during shipping. Mine has a nice chunk taken out of the body right at the strap button. It's definitely enough damage to warrant sending it back, but I don't plan on playing it onstage or anything like that, so I don't mind it that much. All in all, I'm having a lot of fun with the bass, and I'd definitely recommend it at the $200 range. I watched it for a bit and kept my eye open for a sale on it and got it at an even better value.

A gift to myself
I bought this bass a few months ago. It was so beautiful coming out of the box and seemed to play great. I only have one problem which I have no idea how this could happen. I went to tune it to standard (EADG). All was right except the A string which I can't get past a C sharp. I suppose this could be fixed with string replacement, but I have not yet done so because I don't have extra money to go get strings. Otherwise this is a great bass for the price and makes for an amazing practice bass or one for a beginner. Or perhaps one for people who can't afford an amazing bass. *points to self*

Didnt like the sound of this bass - UPDATE : it died already!
OK quality beginner bass with cool looking just for practice and hobby at home, E string started to buzz in couple weeks after received, its annoying also I didn't like the sound of this bass, its just plain low level bass sound. UPDATE:(12/03/2014) It literally stopped playing, no sound from strings through amp at all (I tested the amp with other bass guitar and works fine) just statics sound and wont play, it has been just two month and its dead already!!!!!

Great Value
I just started playing the BASS and decided to get this inexpensive one from Amazon($75 Special). With some minor adjustments this BASS guitar is wonderful. The black looks gorgeous. The sound is Good and with some minor tuning it plays quite nice. I really enjoy this instrument. Shipping came a day before promised and unscathed.

Dean Edge 09 Bass!!!
I just received this bass, I have only one problem, the packaging is just its own box, no good protection, causing the back of the guitar to get a small tip of finger size dent, but other than that its in perfect condition surprisingly, the guitar looks amazing, its well constructed, it just looks beautiful, and the sound is just great, amazing bass guitar, and it comes with a free guitar cord and a cool dean sticker, I'm very happy with this bass guitar, I recommend it to anyone looking for a low budget bass or to start learning bass.
