I think for the price and for what it is, this is a great knock box. It's honestly very sturdy. I feel like it will last a long time. It holds a lot of espresso pucks. It's easy to clean. I think it looks nice on the counter. I have no complaints at this point.

I am a Breville fanatic and this knock box is a perfect addition to my espresso set-up (which includes a Breville Dual Boiler and Breville Smart Grinder). I agree with other reviews that this knock box is a tad larger than some and does utilize precious counter space. When making lattes for myself, I don't believe I will keep this on the counter. I did, however, find this knock box to be extremely handy this Thanksgiving when I was making around 10 lattes each morning for my guests. It holds plenty of used pucks and is a breeze to clean. The plastic lining removes easily from the very sturdy die cast metal base. The 'Breville' name on the die cast base is not printed on but rather recessed into the metal...very nice! The bottom of the knock box has a rubber pad to keep it from skidding on the counter. The round bar is covered in a layer of rubberized material...just enough to dampen the 'knock' of the portafilter on the round bar and keep both the knock box and portafilter protected.

I'm still learning how to make shots (getting pretty good by now!!) but end up with a lot of test pucks while increasing or decreasing dose and other variables all in pursuit of consistency. I'm doing 18g grounds in double basket now which seems to be the sweet spot for my tastes but am playing with 16g and 14g etc. Having the ability to dump the pucks right into this monster makes all of my mad scientist experiments that much easier! I used to have to put the PF onto a sponge, walk to the trash, tap into trash, walk back. Now I just bang the pick right into this bad ass rig. When using the single wall basket on 840XL and when it is dosed and tamped right, the puck is COMPLETELY DRY, btw. When I bang it out it's one big solid PUCK that is dry and goes directly into the knock box. This is a LARGE unit, very very large as other reviews state. Having this now I am glad I got one this big and not the "mini" version. MAKE SURE you have room for this. I have pretty generous counter space so this was not a problem and it looks great next to my other Breville stuff. Very heavy, well made (even though CHINA) the quality seems great. Very pleased with this, so glad I bought it!! Next purchase will be an upgraded 53mm tamper for my 840XL.

I had smaller, plastic knock box which worked pretty well ( Dreamfarm Grindenstein 4-Inch Espresso Stein, Red ), but I accidentally left it at my mother's house. I decided to leave it there, and since the price had more than doubled since I purchased mine from Amazon, I thought I might as well get a larger one. This looks pretty on the counter, and I like that you can take the inside part out and put it through the dishwasher. It works like any other knock box, but I like that there is more space for tapping--more room for error, I guess. This is big, though, compared to the one I had before. I knew it would be larger, but I was still a bit surprised by the size of it. I don't mind it, but I empty it before it's even a little bit full, as we only make one or two espressos per day. I think it would take quite a while to fill this up.

As others have noted, it's big. After reading some reviews and looking at the dimension, I first removed it from my cart, thinking it'd be too big for my coffee station. However, not being able to find the one I'd like, I figured my espresso machine is Breville, so why not get a matching one. And it came. And it is big. haha. However, I actually like it big. I do both pour overs and espresso, so it doubles as my mini trash can plus knock box, and it serves that purpose really well. And the fact that inner part is removable makes it easily washable and keep it clean. Because it's big, it gives less chance of making a mess around it. Just one down side of it is that, that knock bar/rod is plastic. It is a hard plastic and it works, however, I don't get that solid feel of hard rubber-over-metal when I bang on it. Minor but I wish was more solid for that perfection.

I purchased this knock box over three years ago and have never regretted the purchase. It’s large, sturdy, and easy to clean….and has held up beautifully. I recently made tiramisu and had to pull around 14 double shots and it held all of the pucks, no issue. We’re weekend “fancy coffee” drinkers and I’m always happy I have this knock box to tamp down the grounds before pulling the shot. It’s also a nice place to rest your portafilter between shots. Go on, it’s been in your cart long enough :)

This is a very solid purchase because of features like the removable inner vessel, which is super handy. I appreciate the barista style knock box- makes me feel like a pro at home! The polymer ring prevents slipping, which is a small but thoughtful design aspect. Just love it and use it every day. Highly recommended!

A must have

Love. I waited almost two years after buying my Breville machine to get this knockbox. The photo makes it look small but they sell it in two sizes. I got the larger size. It's about 5 inches wide and 7" tall. The outside is a brushed metal and the inner black bucket lifts out by the bar so it can be emptied. The bar is what you're to bonk the portafiler on to dump the puck of used coffee grounds. As per another reviewer it holds around 22 to 25 pucks so you don't have to empty it constantly. Also the coffee grounds don't appeal to fruit flies so there's no problem with the open top, unlike my compost container which I constantly have to keep tightly closed. That's why I wanted a separate container to dump the coffee grounds, so that the compost container wouldn't fill up so quickly. The knock box is very durable and well made and will lst for a very long time. I do recommend it. I put a coffee cup next to it in the photo to try to give a sense of it's size. It does look good on the counter and doesn't take up too much room.

Well designed knock box, easy to use and clean. The shape of the mouth of the box eliminates splashes landing outside the box itself, it has a good capacity and enough heft in the cast body to stop it moving about in use.

It is large enough to act as a general waster beside my coffee machine, sturdy build, and removal inner basket is a game changer. Very happy with the purchase.

Been using this for more than a month now. I'm very impressed by the sturdiness of it. The die-cast aluminium base gives it a decent weight. The inside plastic bucket can be removed easily for cleaning. 4 stars as I think the price is way too much for what it is...
