Review: The Good And The Bad - The good and the bad: * The outside of this unit does get extremely hot and you must be careful or you will burn yourself. * It is not too heavy but that is a plus for me. * It smells when you first plug it in as do many appliances with a heating element. Just heat water in the unit before you use it and then clean it. When you are ready to cook your turkey, it won't smell. * If the turkey touches the sides, it will burn. Simply put tin foil between the turkey and the side of the pan and your problem is solved. * The self basting lid is awesome. Put the turkey in and forget it and comes out moist and cooked to perfection. * Clean up is easy enough. I sprayed the roaster and rack with PAM and clean up was no worse than any other pan. In spite of of a few negatives, I am very glad I bought this roaster. It isn't expensive and it works very well.

I have been cooking in this since 2020. I love it. Cooks turkey perfect. cooks ham perfect and you can even use it for crock pot cooking when setting it at lower degrees. It is perfect.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great Roaster

Bought this roaster for our Thanksgiving turkey to free up oven space for other dishes. It worked like a charm and everyone commented that it was the best turkey ever! The self-basting really helps seal in flavor. We've also used it for roasting a prime rib and making lamb osso bucco. To make clean-up easier, line the pan with heavy duty aluminum foil or use an oven bag (being careful not to let the plastic of the bag touch the side of the oven so it doesn't melt to the sides). Here is the turkey recipe we used: 1. After thawing the bird, remove neck and giblets (reserve for gravy), then rinse inside and out and pat dry the bird. 2. Brine, season and/or stuff the bird as desired. We skipped the brine and used a cajun herb butter mix to inject into the meat and season the bird (melted butter, salt and pepper, cajun seasoning, lemon zest and finely chopped thyme, rosemary and sage). We also stuffed the bird with a mix of apples, onions, celery, carrots, lemon wedges and garlic cloves. 3. Pre-heat the roaster to 450F degrees (highest setting). Place the bird breast side up in the rack inside the roaster pan and make sure the bird is not touching the sides of the roaster. Brush with olive oil and seasoning then roast at high heat for 30 minutes to sear and brown the outside. 4. Turn the heat down to 325F and roast for several hours (as specified by weight). The roaster will self-baste the bird and seal in flavor and moisture as long as you do not open it! Do not lift the lid except to check the temperature in the last hour or 30 minutes. 5. Carefully remove the bird from the roaster when fully cooked and let it rest for 30 minutes before carving. This roaster is a great value and will make delicious roasts!
