Works as advertised!!!!
Purchased this for my iPhone rig. The system is intended for use as a means of capturing reactions of attendees at organizational functions and to apply them to social media. Using a Smallrig cage, an iPhone 6s (one of my previous phones) a Smallrig RM120 light and the Move mic. Plugged the system in, recorded videos and notice some increase in the quality of the audio. This is not meant to be a money making of self promoting venture so, if you are looking for a review on a product that is going to make you the next Hollywood sensation, this is not that. If you want and need that, spend the money, buy a professional grade mic with windscreen and have at it. If you are simply looking to improve the quality of the audio on your impromptu videos, hands down one of the best.

Good quality
The 4 pole function is really nice for my speaker to get connected with my iPhone in two directions: sending music to the speaker and also recording for the speaker which has other input options. The typical 3 pole one doesn’t work.

It does what it’s supposed to.
I like it that it just works. It’s converting an external mic to my iPhone lightning connection. Yay It does seem a little overpriced. The whole tripod, external mic and LED light was half the price of this.

It feels really solid.
This dongle feels well made; all the seams/junctures are firm and don’t buckle when contorted. The female component has a very firm hold on the 3.5mm plug, and keeps it from rotating while walking/biking/working. There is no crackle/hiss, and the sound quality transmitted is very good. It’s rather rigid, so expect it to poke out of your pockets. This isn’t an issue for me, however, as it is comfortable and not cumbersome while in my back pocket. I’m very happy with the purchase. I’d consider this item a tiny bit on the pricy side, but the price reflects the quality, which is rare for consumer electronic accessories purchased online. The matte rubber is also discrete and doesn’t stand out, which I like.

THE MAGIC KEY
THIS is the magic key to getting an external microphone to work with an iPhone. The important bit is that a microphone plug has FOUR sections. The "official" iPhone "camera adapter" only sees THREE of them. So where it should be seeing two sections (one for a microphone and one for a headphone), all it sees is ONE. So the iPhone winds up thinking it has a headphone connected, instead of a microphone. Also (my thanks to their support guys for pointing this out), you have to UNPLUG the microphone to hear what you recorded in a video. (With this adapter, the iPhone assumes you have a microphone-headset, and directs the outging sound to that, rather than the internal speaker. I went through 5 microphones and every possible adapter, including a trip to the Apple store, until a kind soul clued me in to the difference between prongs. In summary: 4 sections = mic and headphone. Three sections = headphone or external speaker!

it works
This initially did not work on my iphone. After several hours of testing I could not make it work and I complained to Movo. The problem however was due to the charging port in my iPhone which needed replacement. It was almost as cheap to upgrade with my trade in than to have the charging port fixed. The Movo works well with my new iPhone 13 mini.

It didn't work with my iPhone
I have a MOVO microphone and I used this adapter to connect the TRRS end to the smartphone. It did not register. I don't think it's acceptable by Apple products.
