Love the vibrant colors! A few pieces came broken but it does not affect use. We've only used them on art paper so far but it spreads nicely with your finger if you want a "watercolor" look. I purchased the small package but now I wish I would have purchased the larger one. Will do when these run out! Edited to add: They work better when broken. I ended up breaking them all on purpose. I have also used them on a chalkboard since I posted this review and they work great (though not as vibrant as they are on paper.) They also wipe off fine. These are wonderful, soft, almost buttery feeling chalks. They feel and color very similarly to Mercurius chalks (often sold in Waldorf school supply shops), but are thinner sticks. They are wonderful for blackboard art! They are very vibrant, and blend easily. For blackboard *writing* I prefer a harder stick chalk (Prang, Crayola, etc) but for blackboard *art*, these are perfect. A few arrived broken, but this wasn't a problem for me, as we usually snap our art chalks anyhow. I find chalk chunks are just easier to use on a mounted blackboard than long sticks. I'm using a porcelain black board and haven't had any staining issues. (Yet!)

Great vibrant colors. Would buy over and over again! Check out the pics and see how vibrant the colors are. The chalks are soft and some may arrive broken, but that really should be a deciding factor. They still work, look great, and are affordable. A chalk holder may be a good idea.

Bought 2 boxes most were broke and I would blame the shipping process but trying to write or draw anything would also cause them to break at least in half. Still fine to use as a half.

These chalks break very easily. No matter how careful you are, they will break.

When I decided to create a chalk wall in my apartment; I researched what was was the best chalk to use and who has the highest percent of pure calcium carbonate. Aside from using gymnastic chalk, this is as good as it gets. The colors are bold and beautiful. The chalk blends seamlessly with one another and it glides on the wall. I only use microfiber clothes to erase my wall and I have had no issues creating mural after mural.

Great for chalkboard drawing, colors are vibrant enough. Plus the price is very attractive. Plus I am amazed that out of the three packs of chalk I ordered, only one of the packs has broken chalks, and it is just two of the chalk pieces that have broken. Lovely!

This chalk is incredibly soft. Even though it's meant for artwork on paper, we use it as chalkboard chalk. The colours are amazingly vibrant (even the black!), and despite its fragility it holds up decently well in the hand. I highly recommend this set for both art on paper, as well as science and mathematics on the blackboard.
