The bottom broke and when I looked down my lens and camera body were separate. I looked and tried to put the lens back on but it didn't work. Just be aware that the attachment screws are nearly microscopic and must be disassembled/assembled with jewelers tools. Go to Youtube and watch it being done a couple of times before diving in. Also, there is a minute grounding plunger that is attached to an extremely fragile wire which will snap in a heart beat so be super careful when reassembling the ring to the lens not to stress this wire. I wasn't and it snapped. When I accidentally knocked my camera off the table and saw my beloved Nikon 18-105 lens and body lying apart on the floor my heart sank. Partially because it is a great everyday lens and partially because I was in the attic taking picture of a leak around chimney :( While I still have to figure out cost of roof repair, I was able to take care of the lens myself. The whole replacement process took less than 40 minutes, mostly because I took my time ensuring I don’t miss a step or screw. It is really straight forward and if you know how to use screwdriver you can fix it yourself. I was looking for a genuine part but couldn’t find it anywhere. The fit of this lens mount was perfect. All screw holes were aligned. The only iffy thing is that it is made of cheap plastic. While I was mounting the ground wire spring loaded mount it tore the screw hole since it was too tight, since it was too tight it still held the screw in place. I am not sure if it will loosen up over time.
