Consistent, durable, and a total confidence booster for beginner clarinet players!
My daughter started learning the clarinet this year, and she was honestly struggling to enjoy it. The traditional wooden reeds were all over the place — one would sound great, the next wouldn’t play at all, and a few even cracked within days. On top of that, changes in humidity seemed to completely change how they played, which just made her more frustrated. She was starting to lose interest in practicing altogether. I decided to try the Légère Classic 2.5 synthetic reed after hearing how consistent they are, and the difference was immediate and dramatic. It plays cleanly every single time, no soaking or adjusting needed. The tone is clear and even across registers, and she doesn’t have to worry about it drying out or splitting. It has completely removed the “guesswork” from playing. Most importantly — she *loves* playing now. The clarinet sounds smoother, it’s easier to get notes to speak, and she feels more in control. It’s been worth every penny just to see her confidence come back. Highly recommend for any student or parent dealing with the frustrations of inconsistent cane reeds. This is easily one of the best investments we’ve made for her musical journey.

Love these
From the first time I tried these they have become my go-to reeds. I love that they are long lasting (they last longer than the price-equivalent cane reeds), they don't dry out (music full of long rests is not an issue), and need no prep before starting to play. They are also play well right out of the box, and are reliably consistent, so testing a whole box of reeds to find my favorites is a thing of the past. Sound quality is great! And it's also handy that they each come with a durable plastic case, although these do seem to be more durable than cane reeds as well - splitting right before a concert is not a worry. Some musicians I play with prefer the European style, but I find them a bit breathy - difference in embouchure, I image.

Works well, but touchy
Before hammering on the defaults of this reed, I think I should first state that it plays decently. It does a decent job, and definitely allows playing, but it is a little touchy. It tends to want to squawk on the start of notes a little more than cane reeds. One other thing that could possibly be improved on, is the edge of the reeds is a sharp 90 degree plastic edge, which can be really hard on the lips. I don't know if this would affect the sound quality, but I feel like fille it would be better if the edge had a small chamfer or bevel. The reeds are not all bad though, it is very nice to just throw these on in the cold, or in a bind, and just know it will play exactly like the last time it played. The sound on these is a little more "buzzy" than a cane reed, which might be nice for jazzy players. however, the buzz is less noticeable in higher notes. All in all, if it lasts long, it is worth it. For example, when I grabbed my clarinet during a fire drill, I was able to confidently slap this reed on, and play out in the humidity and cold, confident that this reed would play just fine. All in all, it depends what you are looking for.

Great reed for infrequent players like myself
This was my first synthetic reed and I’m a believer now. It’s very convenient to not have to go through the motions of a normal reed. I do not play often enough to care for or spend extra money on traditional reeds. In my view, it plays and sounds just like a traditional reed I would use. I’m not a professional and I’m sure traditional reeds offer things that synthetic reeds do not, but for the price and robustness, this was a good purchase for me.

The sound seems to be produced so effortlessly, and it sounds so smooth. And somehow this reed squeaks so much rarer than the cane reeds I used (Vandoren V12, Rico). Maybe it depends on the clarinet and the mouthpiece, but for me this reed is just perfect.

Ottimo articolo, sinceramente speravo resistesse di più, tuttavia mi ha accompagnato perfettamente per 2 mesi. P.S. l'ancia è troppo morbida per essere una 3.5
