GM 6.2 & 6.5 Liter Diesel Engines: How to Rebuild

If you are a legit shade tree mechanic without good enough reception to watch videos, I think you could still follow this book and get your engine rebuilt without issue. It has lots of useful information and suggestions for where to get parts or if the original parts aren't available suggestions for other parts that should be. It has already been useful to us fixing up our project so far.

Nice thick book, had a lot of info about 6.2/6.5 diesel engines

Was hoping for a repair manual, but this book is only highly detailed about rebuilding the engine and some of the parts. Great for a rebuild but is not for general repair

Favorite section shows troubleshooting for a wide range of issues and ways to fix them. Great for someone like me whose a novice at-home mechanic

Very useful tool while rebuilding your 6.2 or 6.5 diesel but leans more towards 6.5’s than 6.2’s

Book had significant water damage upon arrival. Appeared to be used.

Easy to follow the rebuild. Many pictures. Injection pump rebuild very detailed.

I have a Chev 6.5 Optimizer turbo diesel (H1 Hummmv engine) installed in my 2009 Nissan Patrol 4WD station wagon here in Australia. These engines for many years have been imported into Austraila, tweaked for our Australian conditions for more HP/KW and torque but very little info available online or elsewhere about these historic engines until I found this book online from the US. It was just what I was looking for but on receipt and reading same, it has exceeding my expectations. Super user friendly to read. You don't need to be a mechanic to understand what is being said. As a car lover who has personally hands on restored and rebuilt cars over 4 decades from mechanical, bodywork, paint and motor trimming and more, this book I can say is almost a bible for those who want to know as much as they can about their Chev 6.5 diesel engine. This book is made up of thick high quality gloss/semi gloss pages with exceptional crystal clear color, yes, high gloss color photos throughout. The information within is very detailed. Author is a highly respected expert in this field. I would highly recommend this book. It is almost a bible.
