Works for Connecting to DAC
I got this to connect my iPhone 11 to Cambridge Dacmagic 100. Works great. Excellent build quality (Apple). I saw many cheaper knock-offs but didn't want to take the chance.

Works as advertised!
Before you make this purchase, keep in mind this it was designed and advertised to connect to a CAMERA. If you’re buying this to connect to an unpowered device like a thumb drive or card reader, it WON’T WORK. The lightning port was never really designed to provide the 5 volts most USB devices require. The device you’re adapting to must have its own power source (like a camera has batteries). I’m using it for my J-Lab USB microphone for YouTube using a powered USB hub to provide power to the microphone and it works like a champ! I got both this and a hub for less than $40. Worth it considering what I paid for the microphone.

So glad I found this!
I purchased this before a recent trip to Europe so that I would be able to copy or move photos off of my older camera onto my iPad Mini 2. It worked flawlessly and I was then able to post and email pictures from the iPad while I was there instead of waiting until I returned home. It also allowed me to back up my pictures daily in case something happened to my camera or SD card. I debated between getting this, getting a non-OEM card reader only for the iPad, and getting and setting up a card reader for my Android phone. I think this was the easiest and simplest solution and it adds other functionality besides just reading SD cards to my iPad (although I haven't used it for anything else yet). I understand that there may issues with longer file names (and maybe with other devices), but I had no problems at all with my camera. My only reason for docking a star is the price. As with most things Apple, they charge a premium. But I'm really glad I had it with me.

The hidden gem of Apple accessories
Kids, this is the real deal. People make fun of Apple and their overpriced dongles, but this thing is magic. No really, I can't think of another tiny piece of hardware that has so drastically expanded what I can do with a single port. This dongle hides behind the name "Camera Adapter", as if it were a mere tool for camera enthusiasts. I don't care about cameras at all, I've used this to: - Attach a USB keyboard for use with my iPad Pro - Connect a Blue Yeti USB Microphone to my iPad and record vocals - Attach a USB MIDI Controller which then seamlessly hooks into Garageband's Synth instruments - Connect to a USB-to-Ethernet hub and download stuff to my iPhone/iPad over Ethernet - Oh, by the way, that hub I mentioned has 3 USB ports on it, I can connect stuff to **all three of them** and download over Ethernet at the same time. - And yeah, maybe I'll try it out with a camera someday when I'm done rocking out with all these other peripherals... I wonder if I could plug in an Electric-Guitar-to-USB adapter... Anyway, this thing is insane. You might have an awesome iPad, but until you get this, you're not using it right. Accept no substitutes.

Used to hook up a wireless usb keyboard.
I purchased one of these to hook up a keyboard to my wife's iPhone. The screen was not registering touches so I had to use the keyboard to unlock the device. After enabling voiceover (thanks siri) I was able to access the files I needed and was able to email them to her. When you hook up a device that requires too much power, it will let you know on the screen. Although it's recomended to use a bluetooth keyboard for that, this method worked. The biggest drawback was that I couldnt connect to a PC using this method because you need to be able to press trust this device on your phone screen. This is where the bluetooth keyboard comes in handy. Either way, this worked for what I needed.

Seamless Instant Easy to Use with Nikon DSLR
Worked perfectly right out of the box. Needed to download photos off my old Nikon D70 to iPad Air 2 instead of to my Macbook. Plugged adapter into iPad and other end accepts Nikon USB camera cable. Open Photos app, Choose "Device" in side menu and voila, there are all the photos currently on the camera. Download speed super fast for largest size JPEGs. Happy! Apple adapter is a little pricey, but I say just go with it instead of risking some other brand that may or may not work.

I used this product to connect a Yubi key to my iPhone. Yubi key is a secure password device that my employer requires to use their Microsoft Teams app on my iPhone. Worked right away, no fuss. Apple calls it a camera adapter but it will mechanically connect various devices that need a USB socket. If the device is low power, like YubiKey, iPhone can support the power required by sharing power from iPhone battery. You can get a non-apple camera adapter for less than half the price that apple sells. They probably work just as good, but I decided to buy the adapter from Apple because I didn’t know if it would work and I wanted to remove worry about quality.

Updated: Got this working eventually, needed to use a powered hub with the particular usb device (Modal craft) I was wanting to use. Whether it’s genuine or not, it works 100% like the current version Apple sells for quite a bit more money and I ended up returning and keeping this one.

It is a big disappointment, the adaptor didn’t work at all and it’s an apple product PLUS it came with a stain of brown colour.
