Welcome to Evermore Academy, where the magic is dark, the immortals are beautiful, and being human sucks. After spending my entire life avoiding the creatures that murdered my parents, one stupid mistake binds me to them for four years. My penance? Become a human shadow at the infamous Evermore Academy, finishing school for the Seelie and Unseelie fae courts. All I want is to keep a low profile, but on day one, I make an enemy of the most powerful fae in the academy. The Winter Prince is arrogant, cruel, and apparently also my fae keeper. Meaning, I’m in for months of torture. But it only gets worse. Something dark and terrible looms over the academy. Humans are dying, ancient vendettas are resurfacing, and the courts are more bloodthirsty than ever. What can one mortal girl do in a world full of gorgeous monsters? Fight back with everything I have, and try not to fall in love in the process. If you love reading about fated mates, enemies-to-lovers, snarky heroines, and everything fae, then buy the audiobook and fall into this magical new series that's being called Vampire Academy meets The Cruel Prince! P.S. This full-length story may leave you with a book hangover. P.P.S. This upper YA/NA series will eventually be four books and is intended for mature audiences. It contains cursing and steamy situations. Review: Read it! - I've never really been interested in Fae romances and I'm a bit too old for the typical academy genre, but I read all Audrey's other books and loved them so I gave this a chance. I'm so happy I did because I absolutely loved this book too! The way Summer's inner monologue is written had me enjoying it from the very first page and from there it was difficult to put down. The world building is excellent as well and had me wanting to learn more about the Fae, both in-universe and in the real-world mythology it's based on. Though I did figure out the major twist from the foreshadowing, the payoff was still satisfying and the surrounding story is exciting and often unpredictable. The characters are engaging and felt like real people in a real world. Summer is a likeable protagonist who grows throughout the story and works on her flaws instead of being perfect from the beginning, which is something I appreciate in a book. (All of Audrey Grey's heroines are like this and it's one of the things I love about her work.) Without giving anything away, I'll also say that the Prince is well done in a way that you feel the enemies to lovers vibe, but he's not an over the top jerk who wouldn't make sense for Summer to be attracted to. Finally, I was pleasantly surprised to see this was written more like New Adult than Young Adult fiction. I can still enjoy a well-written YA series, but I prefer the more mature feel of NA and find those characters to be more relatable. Now that I've stayed up half the night finishing this I can't wait to start the sequel! Review: I liked it. - Look, this book has some clichés and some flaws. I'm not gonna sit here and tell you it's amazing, but I still honestly enjoyed it. This book is in many ways like other books in a good comforting way. I found myself saying things like oh this reminds me of ACOTAR, that reminds me of Harry Potter, and if that isn't like ZA idk what is. It made me feel a bit like I was reading an old book I enjoyed while also getting a new story, it was quite a feeling and I love it for that. The love interest totally gave me Crave vibes... I also gotta say that though in my opinion, the book was very predictable, it was still a very fun story and I genuinely liked some of the characters. That being said, I did find some of the side characters forgettable to the point where I actually did forget about a character that was apparently somewhat important to the plot and had to wrack my brain to remember who the heck this person was that this thing was happening to... so there's that. TBH my least favorite character is actually Summer lol and not because she's not a good character, I just found her kind of... dumb. Even so, I liked some aspects of our MC and still plan on reading the next book. PS I was on his team before I even liked him!!! That's one character I enjoyed. Find out who I'm talking about by reading it boo. As YAs go it's not super original, but what it IS is entertaining. I'd recommend this book just for the feeling of putting on an old favorite sweater that it absolutely gave me. But since most people want real reasons to read books, I'd say... If you like classic the YA style MCs (think of katniss, a bit of Tris, some Rose) and magic academia-style stories, with humans in unfair magical situations (think vampire academy meets fae prison), this book may be for you. Let's face it, if you like this type of YA, you know what you're getting into. *wink, finger gun, tongue click*

Don't be deterred by the academy setting!
I've been seeing this book for awhile. I didn't pick it because "academy reads" are just an instant eye rolling no-go for me. I hit a good book dry spell. I read the reviews for Evermore Academy. I reluctantly downloaded it. I'm soooo glad I did. There are tropes here. There are fae, vampires, mates, an academy. But the way it's written, the plot, the characters made this story feel fresh. The concepts are original. The MC is written so well. She's likable. Relatable. She has a few moments of what I'd call immaturity, but who among us hasn't? She's not whiney. She's witty and intelligent. The love interest doesn't overly stand out to me but it works. The romance element doesn't over shadow the plot. The bond to her family and friends remains important to her. It's a great balance. I always get worried a fantastic story is going to get lost in a mooshy romance that moves way too fast. This book is more adventure/fantasy than romance. The mystery veil starts to drop pretty quickly. At one point I was thinking, how has Summer not figured this out? But in fairness, I don't think anyone in her position would be expecting the things that are revealed. The author is good, it wasn't oversight. In the first few pages I knew the author put time, work and her heart into this story. Everything she did was intentional. She really wrote a fantastic story. The academy and how the humans fit in is really creative. It's intricately woven. And it's a big story. A big world with a lot characters. The world building is perfect. I could picture it perfectly without skimming pages of boring descriptions. The pacing is perfect. The first book covers a whole year. That's not easy to do without it feeling rushed. I really prefer books written in first person. Unfortunately that runs the risk of way too much inner dialogue. That's not the case with Evermore Academy. It's more showing than telling. That's important. I highly recommend!

What can I say, it got me hooked!
I wasn't looking for this when I found it, I'm not a huge reader of YA\NA books but I wanted a good fantasy read with fae in them and let me tell you, there aren't that many out there that are good. This book? It was great, it got me hooked when I started the sample and I couldn't put it down. There's a lot to this book that I just loved. Action, drama, romance, the main characters are just to die for (especially Summer), even the side characters are amazing! Yes, it's an academy \school style book with older teens so it's a little more risky in the love telling I guess? That's the only way I can describe it, meaning there's a tad more description about love scenes and body anatomy. But that's why I loved it, the Academy is not what you think. It has a Harry Potter feel to it with deception, secrets, magic, trials, and of course all kinds of different looking fae's and creatures. Keep in mind that it is a YA book so no steamy love scenes and barely any swearing but again that didn't bother me AT ALL. The writing was suppurb the world Building most beautiful and the story itself is great!

Loved it, hated it, I'm invested
3.9 for me. This hooked me in by the second paragraph and I immediately fell in love with Summer's brain. Her sarcasm, the way she rolls her eyes at things. She's been through a lot in this post-disaster of a world and I loved that in spite of having so many things done to her, she chooses to be responsible and do what's right, which is ensuring her family is fed and safe. Half of North America blew up due to a fae fight gone out of hand. "Oops" is all they can say, but even putting up a shimmering wall does nothing to keep away the darklings, feral creatures worse than the fae. And the poor people in contact of the toxin leaking out get turned into these things. Summer's lived this this all her life so the fae are just another thing to know. But when she ends up at Evermore Academy, she has to learn things all over again and ensure her own survival among the human shadows and children of the courts. I had my ups and downs with this. She started out great, but then I got to the academy and mean girls appeared. They were very basic and it got old fast, especially when some things started sounding like all the other academy books I gave up on reading. Still, the Winter Prince was really hot and I low key live for the bullying. There's something about watching two people go from hating each other to loving each other that gets me. Which... is probably why her hatred for him got old fast, as well. For me, it was pretty obvious that he didn't really hate her. I mean it's easy to know it's a romance and connect the dots but it took me away from the story more than once, and her cursing him didn't make the ride and smoother. I also had a few problems with the small things that built up but I won't mention them here for fear of spoiling. Otherwise, yes she is annoying and yes, I still enjoy her and Winter Prince's story behind this installment's and yes, I will be reading the next one. This felt like an opening to something far more grand so for now I'll be waiting in this lobby until the elevators open up for me.

Best Series Ever!!!!
Reading ya fiction has always been how I love to spend my time. I have many favorite series that have been pretty hard to top, but this one somehow manages to top ALL of them. I didn’t think I’d ever find anything better than the TOG series, but this is. It has my favorite villain love interest trope that’s twisted in mystery, facades, and typical fae treachery, but also a glorious love story strong enough to overcome any obstacles. The protagonist has the best personality I’ve experienced yet. She’s spunky, kind, brave, and most of all—resilient which is necessary for this cruel world. Her character touches the hearts of even the cruelest characters and continuously surprises everyone. She’s a truly inspiring heroine. The prince is the perfect amount of bad who also has the heart of a lion. He’s a combination of the perfect soulmate, protector, tormentor, and sexy villain. The constant banter between them is thrilling, and kept me wanting more, but in the best way. Truly the best love interest I’ve read. Normally, I can’t stand books with mean girls, but this was tasteful and added to the story in all the right ways, mostly because of how the protagonist reacted to them. The action and trials she goes through is also incredible. The characters and world building is the best I’ve ever read. I read the entire series in three days and am rereading it immediately after.

Good But One Book is Enough
*****Spoilers***** I enjoyed this book. Summer is engaging and from page one, this one grabs the attention and continues to hold it through to the end. The post-Fae world is different and a little thick in the beginning of the book and I don't think I ever got all of the references down by the end but there were enough context clues to get me where I needed to get in terms of understanding what was going on. A bit too much is resolved easily, but enough explanations are given around Summer, there's some contradictory and inconsistent spots in the story, and although I liked the Winter Prince and too Summer though the liking when it came to Summer wanted as the book continued, I couldn't understand her emotions at times or how she operated even though we are in her head the whole book. I guessed at certain revelations before they were revealed. Like Summer was the reincarnated soul of the Winter Prince's mate. That the weapon she used from the dark vault would suit, Despite the things that I liked, I can tell that this series just won't be for me. Summer has so many great qualities, selfishness, protectiveness, honor, determination, resiliency that I feel like I should absolutely love her. However, the teenage drama vibe she gives off, I just can't see it getting better across the rest of the series so I'll stop here. The back and forth with the Winter Prince and how she constantly is on this emotional rollercoaster, sometimes inexplicably upset for some perceived something or jumping to conclusions about something else or after having all of these revelations, all of a sudden she needs to take her time to evaluate things. Not to mention the vindictive ex mean girl and being duped by said emotions because her enemies have done something she misattributed to the Winter Prince. Speaking of, I'm not sure how he can have all of this power but is unable to do anything about Inara, makes no sense. Sighs, I just don't have the patience for several more books of the same. I honestly thought after reading this book, "why have another in the series?"

Entertaining
I really liked this book. It has all the ingredients that I love in a fae romance book, fated mates, enemies to lovers, magic, action, misunderstandings, hot male Heroes with a bit of darnkness and brave h that fight for what they want. There're also great secondary characters like Mack or dragon boy and even Eclipsa. It's a bit like a Howarts for grown up humans in a Fae world. I'm giving it 4 starts instead of five because the main heroine is a bit unbearable for me. She has a big mouth and sometime she should think twice before speaking. Also the ending is a bit hurried, lot of things happening in a very short amount of time. I'll be glad to read book 2 though.

So good
Usually I’m not a fan of mixing different mythical creatures with Gaelic folklore. Ie vampiric far or werewolves. I loved this though. It felt seamless how all aspects were woven together and the whole fae to earth thing didn’t feel as forced. Can’t wait to read more.

What a ride!
I am not going to lie, I bought this book because of the cover. It is so stunning! The story also grapped my attention. I'm a sucker for fae, academies and dividing by seasons. The first few pages I had to get into the story. Summer Soltice uses foul language and does not think about her actions or the consequences thereof. However the story grapped me and didn't let go. I loved reading about Summer her friends and the Winter Prince! The story had a lot of clichés, but just the clichés I loved. I can't wait for the second book Spring!

Kickass awesomeness
It’s kick ass awesomeness. It’s kick ass awesomeness, ok so I didn’t have high hopes for this, I admit that, normally I don’t like the academy trope, but I have to say, I really, really enjoyed this one. Summer, a human, who lives in the tainted zone, with kids she’s taken in, there is barely any food, yet they get by. The shimmer the centre of the magical disaster sits not far from Summers home, on the other side the Fae, who caused the disaster in the first place. When Summer is running because she has stolen food for her family, she hides in the shimmer, in the winter lands. There she’s tempted by fruit that grows all year around, those could keep her family going. But she’s caught, by a fae and branded as the Fae princes property, told she must attend the Evermore academy, for four years, then she can pay off her debit. I loved every second of this book, except when our smart summer does something stupid… she knew it was stupid but still did it anyway, that annoyed me. saying that I understand why she did it, but was still annoyed me to the point I had to put the book down for a day. I loved the winter prince I do wish some of it was from his point of view though. We see it all through summers eyes. I was shocked when I thought I was getting spice…. I fumbled to turn the Audio book off when it got a bit hot. thinking oh no my 16-year-old son can here this…. Needless to say, it wasn’t spice… but still so glad I wasn’t in public listening to that. I often swich between reading and listening it helps with the name’s and how to pronounce them. The characters are all well rounded I love them all. This is definitely one of my top books for the year.
