My favorite dishwasher detergent, and I'm REALLY picky. I was overjoyed whren the commercial came out (I don't know if it was for this brand but it applies regardless) when the little girl says her mom washes the dishes before putting them in the dishwasher before putting them in....so what does the dishwasher do...?! This commercial is so true. I get people want to rinse their dishes to make the dishwashers job easier. Hey if that's what makes you happy, get pre washing and have at it. If you have a Bosch dishwasher than yeah, you need to rinse and pre wash because those dishwashers don't clean well. (I worked at an appliance company for 5 plus years) But, I don't want to pre wash. I don't have time and it makes me upset to do it, I'm busy, just being honest with myself here. I don't like soaking dishes and letting the smelly water smell up my kitchen. I'm a real delight aren't I? Lol. This detergent gets the job done and it gets the job done right. Which is why I buy the Finish Quantum only. I have tried all of the dishwashing detergents on the shelf at the store. I tried Seventh generation, cascade all variations, powder granules - all brands even off brand store labels, gel dishwasher detergents, finish orange packets ehhh not better than the quantum, finish regular is so so i think its too dry and needs some of the gelly rinse stuff otherwise you get too much soap white cloud residue, like any other brand. Same reason I don't like the powders, too dry and more often than not leaves a cloudy residue eventually, sometimes it takes awhile to build up in the machine. Also before you blame your soap, be sure to clean out your dishwasher. Most have traps that catch stuff that's too big to go through the machine. Look up your brand and model and how to clean it. If you do leave food on your dishes that will clog a dishwasher over time, even if you have a hard food disposer. Also, look at your spray arms. Usually one on top one on bottom. If the little holes are clogged, you found your problem. Your machine won't clean well if it can't spray enough water out. Also, make sure you are getting eough water to machine. After 10 minutes open the door to make sure there's enough water in the machine. If not, then it's the filling mechanism that is at fault. Always use a rinse aid, it really does make a big difference.

Turns out, it was just our detergent. These are and have been the best dishwasher tabs we've ever used. Keeps our glasses spotless, removes almost everything (except grease, that always leaves a film on pans). We actually replaced an aging dishwasher because it just wasn't cleaning like it used to (and it was OMG noisy!). Our new dishwasher came with a 5 pack sample of these and we were AMAZED at how well the new dishwasher worked; literally everything came out clean, glasses were brilliant, we really thought it was money well spent. Once we ran through the sample pack of these, we went back to our old no-name gel and after about 2 weeks I was becoming seriously disenchanted with the new dishwasher and how nasty our glasses were looking, it didn't occur right away that it could possibly be the detergent so we fought it for awhile and finally I had a revelation that it could possibly be these tabs, bought a 12 pack from the local grocery store and within 3 washings we were starting to see the benefits of these tabs..... Glasses were sparkling again, very few water spots (we use a rinse aid also) and everything was coming out clean, since then, I've not looked back and realize these are worth every penny. Amazon's price is not very competitive, so I'd recommend buying them locally if you can, otherwise I don't think you're going to find a better dishwasher detergent at any price.

Let me first say where I was at before I got this detergent. I live in an area with VERY hard water and as such had always put a water softener into my house first thing. A couple of years ago I moved houses and did not immediately get a water softener. Still don't have one yet but recently started to think I would have no choice but to get one and here is why. Within the last few months it has become impossible to find any detergents with phosphates in my state.. And since phosphates help detergents battle hard water in your dishwasher this means my dishes (and dishwasher) had all started to get coated with a white film of minerals and soap. It was horrific. I tried several big brands (and even store brands) of detergent and the film just kept getting worse. I started looking for a water softener. But at the same time I started browsing Amazon because a lot of times I find solutions to product problems here. And after a couple of hours I found this product and ordered it, just hoping against hope that maybe it would be better. Does it work? It works amazingly! So good I can barely believe it. So good I am going to buy 10 bags because for it to work this well it must contain something that will get banned :-). Not only do the dishes come out CRYSTAL clean, this stuff has even cleaned out my dishwasher. All the film on the door and inside the dishwasher has just disappeared and it is shiny like new! This stuff is like magic. Get it while you can because I doubt the big boys will let it last long.

These work really well. They are very low odor which is my biggest concern since chemicals in laundry and cleaning products can cause anaphylactic shock for me. These haven’t tainted silicone and plastic cooking utensils so far like scented products even Dawn does. You know unscented by law doesn’t mean there are no added scents in products … but so far what slight odor there is, is gone after the wash. Why the heck people want their home and clothes covered with scents that are full of dangerous chemicals the manufacturers aren’t required to list, I don’t get it. Scent doesn’t mean clean. If fact, it’s often toxic, just may take years to find out how toxic for you. I recommend this product. I do wish it was a tab instead of a polymer coated packet.

This dishwasher detergent was top-ranked by Consumer Reports a few years ago when I finally got fed up with the increasing inability of the Cascade I had always used to actually get the dishes clean. I have not looked back. This stuff smells God-awful in the package, as all dishwasher detergents that actually work do, but it also works a *lot* better than any other I have ever tried. Even the more earth-friendly ones stink - *and* they don’t clean well. Unfortunately, no stores near me carry this any more, so I was thrilled to find it online, even though it means feeding the Amazon monster. I was initially concerned about using the pods, but they have actually turned out to be better in a variety of ways than either powdered or liquid detergents. I’ve never had a problem with them, unlike powders, which clump up in the box over time, or liquids that tend to congeal, both of which can end up stuck in the dispenser. These pods have *always* fully dissolved and thus their full power has always been utilized. I’ve also found I no longer need a rinse aid with this brand, for a double win. It’s expensive, to be sure - but less costly than having to often run the dishwasher twice plus still having to clean and dry much of the load by hand, and being able to skip the rinse aid makes it more economical still in the end.

We have this product on the Amazon Dash button. It works as intended and i frequently am surprised at what it will actually take off. Some of it is obviously your condition of your dishwasher, and how well it works from the start. We have what i would say a mid-range unit that is nothing fancy but it was not the cheapest one to buy. We regularly have pasta that might sit in the sink overnight from kids not putting it in the washer, While we remove the hard noodles we still have hardened pasta sauce and some noodles left over. This powers right through it on the medium (normal) wash cycle. The only Con that i can mention is the residual stains or soap granules it leaves sometimes on my dishes, specifically the bowls and the glasses. Normally it does not 'stain' or leave to much hardware but it seems to leave what i would describe as grains of salt. I don't overfill my dishwasher so i don't think its an issue with water not being able to get into the spots, and it does not happen every time. I do run a water softener, and a house filter so i don't think its my water. Due to the sporadic nature of the 'issue' it might be a variable im missing and not the product itself. Thus, no stars off. It works as intended, smells nice and leaves my dishes clean! We will continue to use the product and i would suggest it to others without hesitation.

I've never used a dishwasher detergent I was happy with until now. It truly doesn't leave any kind of residue or much in the way of a scent on your dishes. I wouldn't say it's necessarily appropriate for someone who can't stand any kind of fragrance because there is a smell during the wash. However, it doesn't stay on your dishes once they're done. There's no soapy film or residual taste, which I'm very sensitive to. It does a good job on dishes without rinsing and has always dissolved fully for me...and I use it in a mini-dishwasher that uses about a gallon of water per cycle. It's a little pricey compared to some options but well worth it in my opinion. I hope this remains available!

Switched from palmolive unscented tabs, which always arrived broken and leaking. These finish pods clean just as well if not better, is definitely unscented, and arrived with all pods intact. Like some of the other reviewers, i’ve had a couple of occasions where the pod didn’t dissolve or got stuck in the dispensing tray at first, but i’ve been able to consistently prevent that now - make sure the dishwasher dispenser try for the pod is completely dry before you put it in, and (for my machine anyway) face the flat side of the pod towards the outside of the dispenser (in my case, the flat side would get wet and stick against the tray, so when the little tray door opened during the wash, the pod wouldn’t fall out).
