Better than expected
It really worked on my genuine leather shoe! The pointy toe box had a few tiny scratches that made the leather peel off. I think it probably has something to do with how I walk or bump into things (like stairs). I was going to use this glue first and then the same colored shoe polish, but after this glue, I didn't even need to use the polish. I wish I had found this earlier as I already threw away at least several leather shoes for the same reason.

Cures and bonds leather quick. Slightly messy but no issues.
Okay, you are probably buying this for leather and probably are debating using this vs. rubber cement, which a lot of makers use. I have used both, but I am coming back to Aleene's Leather glue and here are the pros and cons. Pros: glues up leather fast. You can cut pieces you glued together only 3-5 minutes later. The bond isn't invincible, but strong enough. You also get a lot of use out of a bottle, I've made dozens of projects with only a single one. It's also very economical and cheap compared to something like Barge cement. Cons: ruins ability to dye parts of leather if you accidentally touch a part of leather with it on your finger or it smudges. Application is also harder than cement, which you brush. In my case I use my finger as a squeegee to clean up the lines of glue. Once you do it a few times it isn't such a downside. So why use it over cement? For me it's all because of how fast it tacks up, that is the clear reason why. When I am working on a project I like to be doing 1-3 things at a time but my main focus is the piece I want done, and I hate waiting 10 minutes each time for cement application. I am also able to stick the pieces together wet and slide it a bit if I got it off position for the first few seconds, which is important to me. I like making things NOW not waiting a long time, which makes this product 5/5 stars!

Didnโt Work, Technically, Butโฆ
I was trying to adhere an iron-on patch to suede (the iron-on backing wasnโt setting right after heating up) and tried this. Knew it was a long shot but figured letโs try; the jacket in itself was a $3 purchase at a yard sale with a hole in the back, so if I ruined it trying to make it wearable, whatever, itโs a learning experience. Didnโt work, but I canโt really know if it was the product itself being bad, my unskilled application, or just that the situation really wasnโt a good fit for this glue. It did dry clear, however, and not soak through the suede! It was on a suede jacket with a thin inner poly lining, and the glue wouldโve been visible on the lining if it went through the suede. No glue was seen. So that part was good. Jacket still isnโt wearable, but it also isnโt ruined by glue, and weโll call that a win for now.

Worked great for our dogโs collar
Did an excellent job of repairing our dogโs leather collar which was on the brink of completely falling apart. The two pieces that run the entire length of the collar had separated. Glue was easy to use. Holding strong so far. We allowed a full 24 hour drying period.

Still tacky after 5 days
Iโm a little skeptical about this product. Maybe I got a bad batch. I applied some of it 5 days ago without placing another piece of leather on top of the glue, and itโs still tacky. I used it to seal the frayed edges of cotton lining and adhere them to the leather. The edges of the bag I made are sticking to the table a little bit every time I pick it up to check if it dried. It does seem to have formed a well-adhered rubbery coating, which is good, but Iโm curious why itโs taking so long to cure, since I believe the manufacturer stated it takes only 48 hours. Maybe I applied it too thick? Not sure if I will be buying this again.

Doesnโt work. The glue doesnโt adhere. Donโt waste your money.
I do professional rehab/restoration work for luxury handbags. I have been a really big fan and advocate for the Aleeneโs fabric glueโItโs my favorite for fabrics and I recommend it to everyone. I was using a different leather glue, but decided to try the leather and suede glue from Aleeneโs since I have had great results with the fabric version. Unfortunately it was a waste of money because it simply does not adhere properly or at all quite frankly. I first tried it on the interior of a Louis Vuitton where there was some separation, applied it with a brush, the exact way I always have in my work and it just didnโt work. The glue did not stick. I then tried it on a vintage Gucci where a side seam had come apart. Applied again, in the same way I always have and it did not work for that either. I will be going back to the glue I used previously and am a bit disappointed that I wasted money on a product that simply doesnโt work. I am not a novice, I know what Iโm doing. But this just doesnโt work.
