Amazing. This book basically a high-quality encyclopedia with amazing charts, colorful pictures and graphs, as well as step-by-step instructions. Her tone and instructions are personable and easy to understand. This is now my go-to for references for needlework information such as which needle to use with which canvas mesh. I believe that most people who have never tried any form of needlework.

I thought this was a little over-priced so I took the plunge and I'm glad I did. It covers every topic you want to know about embroidery. When I saw the title, I got nervous because it says "Needlepoint and Beadwork." OK, I just embroider so I was concerned that the book would be taken up with topics that were not relevant to my needs. The book is so well-organized that there are chapters that cover everything you need to know. No problems. The pictures are clear, the way it is written (not stuffy but rather in a nice conversational tone), and the spiral binding all made it a pleasure to read. I keep it next to my embroidery and refer to it many times. Good investment.

With the plethora of online learning, free youtube classes etc, it might seem old fashioned or useless to have a book like this, but I learned so much from this book, the illustrations, what to buy, how to start. I really enjoy Diana Rupp's "voice" as an author, and her way of explaining each step resonated with me. The spiral book format was excellent as well, easily staying open while I practiced stitches while looking at the page. This book really does walk the beginner though every step, from material to needles, thread, and then what to do with them once you have them. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to learn the basics and have a really solid foundation in embroidery

This book is really great if you have no idea what you're doing, which craft type is for you, or if you're interested in branching out from one form of stitchery or another. The explanations about the different threads, tools, and uses of each stitching type was very well written and I feel much more confident now about what kinds of projects I want to try and which ones to stray away from. The illustrations were excellent, much more helpful than photographs. There are also a lot of little tips that I felt were *actually* helpful, like running recombined threads through freshly beeswaxed lips in order to seal them together. The included projects are both fun and functional, easy to follow, and some even offer "shortcuts" for those who do not need perfection (ie: skipping using waste canvas to ensure your stitches are straight and even - if that's not your thing.) I would buy another book from this "Everything Workshop" series. A few reasons for four stars instead of five is because I was interested in the cross stitching portion of the book and I feel I still have questions after reading "The Basics" (which is all the instructional portion of the book, after that its all projects.) Also, the included Practice Stitch Card only highlights a few (6) of the stitches and not even the complicated ones (though I would agree they are the most widely used freehand embroidery stitches) and is not pre-punched. Granted - most books likely don't even offer a practice card, but I felt it was a bit of a half hearted effort. I would have preferred a full page card that was pre-punched.

Nice book

I am addicted to embroidery books, and this one has a great selected of tips and projects. It goes beyond embroidery...it also has an array of stitching projects such as cross stitch, which I am anxious to learn. I will say I wish it just focused on hand embroidery, but I still really like the book. I also love the spiral binding, which makes it easy to lay flat and access.

I purchased this book as a present for my 13 year old niece. I'm glad that I looked through the book first. A project for "daily panties" described as having the "mature sexiness of French lace", and pretending "Tuesday" is your secret stripper name...that was a bit surprising to me. Then another project for a "sensual pillow" that has the writing voulez-vous coucher avec moi? . The rest of the book is filled with very innocent, and interesting design ideas. I don't understand why the editors did not question the two projects that seem intended for a more mature reader. The cardboard practice card that is included seems like something a child (younger than 13) would use to learn needlework.

This was everything I wanted and MORE. There is even a practice stitch card to use as a beginner. The spiral binding makes it easy to set up and read as your sew. The pages of supplies with photos is followed by a glossary explaining what each item is and used for. This has to be the best beginner book both in content and design. Thank you.

Much like her previous book, Diana Rupp has created a colourful, well-researched and laid out guide to a craft that has been well-documented already. Why buy this ? Because it doesn't just cover embroidery and iron-on transfers. There is a description of the different types of needlework, and the projects cover all of these different styles of stitching, giving you oodles of choice and chances to experiment with new techniques. It's clearly laid out, so that even children could follow it, but there's so much information it, you could be using it for years without ever needing to buy another stitchcraft book. She is obviously very enthusiastic about her subject and her passion comes through on the page. I received this book on Friday and by the end of the weekend, I'd completed a project, using a technique I'd never tried before. Highly recommended!

I really love my book. It's perfect for beginners. I learned a lot from this book so far. I highly recommend buying this book.

Not as good as the Embroiderers Stitch Bible but a very relatable to and above average product. I personally like it a lot.

Excellent book! Spiral bound so it’s easy to keep open for reference while working on a project. ‘Book Bedouin’ is a wonderful seller, very communicative in a timely fashion. The first time I ordered it he cancelled the order due to the Canada Post Strike and I was disappointed but he explained that postage is expensive enough and that’s the only way he will ship so I ordered again after the strike. The price did go up $2 which I wasn’t too happy about however the book arrived and was wrapped very well to protect it in shipping. Will definately order from this seller again.
