Brother DS-740D Document Scanner, USB 3.0, DSMobile

Scanned all my old documents / bills etc without any pain into my computer - pdf files. ( A note explaining that the 90 degree shield need not be up would have helped and speeded up the simple process). I may have just missed it! First class unit from Brother as usual.

This is a nifty piece of kit which not only does what it is supposed to do, but it does it very well. Very impressive!!

This was a good upgrade for my Brother DS 620 but it does not have a carrying pouch. I can fit it into the DS620 pouch fortunately but a portable scanner without a protective carrier is a bad idea. The cable supplied with it is too short for use and you need to be careful to buy a high quality longer cable or the scanner will not work. That said it is a great scanner for scanning. Brother just cheated with no carrying protective pouch big time and a too short cable to some extent. Had I not had a carrier already it would have been a problem.

bought for our accounts department and they think its great. They are busy throwing tiny receipts and anything else through it and say its works great. From their feedback would strongly recommend

Pro's: - Decent software with autosize function up to 300dpi. - Very fast scanning. - Brilliant for everyday paperwork. Con's: - Can only autosize images up to 300dpi, not the maximum resolution it supports of 600dpi. - Seems to pick up dirt easily when scanning photos, with streaks occasionally occurring. - Has a maximum document feed length of about 15inches/45cm. Can't continously feed scan. This is a brilliant little scanner for A4/Letter document scanning. It's quick and scans double sided to pdf as a multi-page document or individuals, or can be set to various image formats (jpg, tif, all the normal formats etc). It would be a brilliant addition for any office or mobile office that relies on paper documents. I did find an interesting design flaw though, in that the feed scanner gives up and errors out if it thinks it still has to scan more than a page and a half roughly. I had some receipts to scan, and one printed retail receipt was nearly twice the length of an A4 paper, and the scanner would not scan it at all on auto-paper size settings, probably because it was unable to automatically guess the paper size. It would be nice if the software could allow for continual page feeding for circumstances like this where your document is longer than normal. If you want to scan photos, beware that the auto document sizing functionality which is a brilliant feature, only does a maximum resolution of 300dpi. To use the scanner's maximum 600dpi resolution you would need to trim files yourself. I also found it dirties easily, resulting in having to clean the scanner and re-scan are too frequently. I scanned in a family album of about 100-odd photos and realised once I had finished, that every photo was streaked. Since then I now check every photo scan which is time consuming. The Brother scanning software appears to work well on Windows 10. My only criticism I can give to it so far is it creates a little notification popup after scanning that does not time out, so you manually have to dismiss it. If you've scanned in hundreds of files, be prepared to sit clicking dismiss for a few minutes. This is definitely a scanner more suited to general office use.

Bedienung und Nutzung Normales Papier kann über die obere Klappe geführt werden, sodass es nach oben ausgegeben wird. Bei dickerem Papier empfiehlt es sich, die Führungsschiene nicht zu verwenden. Für schnelles Scannen vieler Dokumente lässt sich der Start-Stop-Knopf direkt am Gerät nutzen. Nach wenigen Sekunden wird das Dokument automatisch gescannt und gespeichert, ohne dass man jedes Mal am Rechner bestätigen muss. Ein Kritikpunkt ist das Popup-Fenster auf dem Display, das nach jedem Scan manuell geschlossen werden muss. Bei großen Mengen von Dokumenten summiert sich das zu unnötigem Zeitaufwand. Design und Mobilität Der Scanner ist klein und leicht, wodurch er sich gut verstauen lässt. Besonders praktisch ist, dass man ihn nach getaner Arbeit einfach in der Schublade verschwinden lassen kann – ideal für Haushalte mit wenig Platz. Allerdings setzt Brother nicht auf ein übliches USB-C-Kabel, sondern auf ein spezielles Kabel. Das schmälert die Flexibilität, da man ein zusätzliches Kabel mitführen muss. Leistung und Einsatzbereiche Mit einer Geschwindigkeit von bis zu 15 Seiten pro Minute ist der Scanner für gelegentliche Nutzung mehr als ausreichend. Für den täglichen Einsatz oder für Büros mit hohem Scanvolumen ist ein stationäres Gerät besser geeignet, da dort die Papierausrichtung komfortabler ist. Für den privaten Haushalt oder für Personen, die unterwegs arbeiten, ist der DS-740 eine sehr gute Lösung. Kompatibilität Der Hersteller gibt an, dass neben Windows auch Linux und macOS unterstützt werden. Dies konnte bisher nicht getestet werden, soll aber bald erfolgen.

Me ha sorprendido gratamente, estoy muy contenta con el producto. Ocupa poco, escanea a 2 caras de forma rápida, documentos, tarjetas, DNI, fotos ... y con buena resolución. Si necesitas un escaner rápido y fácil de usar, este es magnífico.

Scanner vraiment au top du top et ne prend que peu de place. Parfait pour un usage personnel.

Franchement j'avais peur en lisant certains commentaires... Mais franchement ce scanner est super!!! L'application est très intuitive et facile d'utilisation, scanner plusieurs feuilles pour en fair un seul document, en une 10ene de type de fichier différents dont PDF. Le réajustement se fais très bien. La qualité j'en suis bluffé sérieusement, certaines photos sont plus belle une fois scanné 😅. Fin bon vraiment le seul petit bémol serait qu'on peut imprimer au dessus de 300 en qualité que si l'on désactivé le recardrage et le format automatique. Gain de temps assuré, je le range avec mon ordinateur dans sa housse, donc ne m'encombre pas plus. Je l'utilise avec windows 11 sans aucun soucis... Vraiment je recommande. De plus il scanne des documents très fin, bien épais et même abîmé sans pour autant bloqué ou détériorer les divers documents. Il fait rouler la feuille sans même la mettre de travers. Juste au top. On insère légèrement la feuille, l'appareil le capte et on voit qu'il "bloque la feuille" puis on scanne. Je recommande les yeux fermés.
