Genuine / Official Arduino Quality, Function, and Support

Having attempted to hack compatibility with various aftermarket open-source Arduino shields, it's comforting to purchase something that is engineered and manufactured with more strict quality controls than other products widely available in the marketplace for the Arduino platform.First of all, reference libraries as well as practical examples of the product functioning are available on the Arduino website. Second, the build quality is excellent. No pin headers bending over as I've seen in other aftermarket products. The XBee libraries are available online, and if you're integrating wireless into your project this is a great card. I had no problems whatsoever getting my XBee to communicate with my PC and upload serial data.I wasn't going to purchase this card, but rather just the wireless card. But considering that this has both the SD card functionality as well as the wireless capability, it's like killing two birds with one stone.Overall, in my experience with Arduino accessories, I've been most successful ordering products manufactured or strongly endorsed at the Arduino website. When I've strayed away and tried to hack something together from an aftermarket board - and NOT ALL aftermarket products are the same, there are varying levels of quality based on who the vendor sources their material from overseas. I can think of one or two who are absolutely EXCELLENT. But in short if there are glowing reviews at the Arduino website and the forums, then feel confident in your purchase. When you purchase materials with questionable quality control / assurance processes from the manufacturer in order to integrate into a software controlled platform, your skills may be trumped by not-so-visible manufacturer defects and cause you tons of frustration. So for that reason my genuine opinion is to stick with the endorsed products - such as this one - and you can confidently tweak your code without worrying that the hardware in front of that code is out of specification and/or dysfunctional.Good job Arduino, good job Amazon FBA merchant, and "kill two birds with one stone" and get wireless access and SD card readability with this easy to integrate and well-supported card.

This is the one to try.

The libraries all work with this one, as far as I can tell it is as though they were written for this very card. It is cheap but well assembled. All the instructions are on line, and in several of the books published about this processor family.

Disappointed

I am disappointed that I bought the wireless shield when what I needed is the wifi shield. I am too much of a nube to detect the difference. I am bothered that the shield doesn"t come with what's needed for the arduino to communicate wirelessly... that must be bought seperately. I'd say, the value this has for me is the integrated sd card reader/writer. I intend to experiment in its use. Other than that, the shield has no use to me.

WiFi required more work

This is a fine shield, but it wasn't clear that it isn't immediately SPI-compatible with XBee's WiFi module, the S6B. This board only expects serial over DIN and DOUT; for SPI, several pins have to be level shifted from 5 to 3.3v (to avoid frying the module) and connected to the shield headers. Time for the shield's next revision?

Genuine WSDS from Mp3Car. Working with Xbee.

I bought these in December 2014 for $25.47 on Amazon via Mp3Car Store. They appear to be genuine. They are working well with my Xbee modules.
