Great Replacement
The original splash guard that came with my Kohler sink became loose and would dislodge itself every time I turn on the garbage disposal. This is a superior replacement than the original and fits like a glove in the sink.

Night and Day
Let’s keep this simple, something the ad for this product has trouble doing. This is a replacement splash guard for an in-sink garbage disposer. There are two reasons you would buy it – as a replacement for an identical one that comes standard on certain brands of disposers if that one somehow got damage, or to convert the type of guard many other brands use, a type often called a starburst. PRODUCT DESCRIPTION My new disposer brand is Frigidaire, a name not often associated with garbage disposers. That’s not their main business and the unit itself is actually made by Electrolux. It, like most disposers sold these days, is the type that that has a rubber flapper just inside the drain hole that is meant let garbage fall into the grinding section and let water flow freely whether the motor is running or not. Unfortunately for all of its niceties the fatal flaw on this model is that the flapper is what they call a starburst, it is an essentially flat piece of rubber with a tiny hole in and six slightly larger holes around it with a slit cut between them. Most people don’t like this design because even without trash in it the water backs up because it can’t drain fast enough and with trash you have to mash into the drain with a fork or spoon but hopefully not your finger. THE SOLUTION This design, while not unique to the product I am reviewing, goes about it a little differently. First off the center hole is larger so water can drain more naturally. Second, other than the center hole the rest of the piece is solid rubber, but very flexible, and molded in such way that there are five triangular slides that let waste immediately flow into the drain without backing up. YES OR NO At only about six bucks this splash guard needs zero installation skills, it just pops into place in about 10 seconds and fits just as snugly and securely as the original. Once you use it you will never see yourself going back to the starburst design. There are a lot of companies selling guards that look like this but they may not be as flexible, or maybe they are better, I can’t try them all. I can say that this one works and I am very happy with it and believe it earns a full five stars.

garbage disposal baffle works great.
Fit as a replacement for our ripped and disgustingly slimey sink baffle. Fit perfectly and works great.

Nice, but…
This is nice and fit perfectly, but it doesn’t let water drain well. When I run water on that side of the sink, I have to hold down the flaps so the water will go down. Other than that, it’s nice.

Great replacement for failing splash guard
The splash guard on my Moen garbage disposal really didn't work well from the get go. It was always a bit loose and would often get pulled into the disposal and get spun around. The disposal didn't chew it up but over time, I think the splash guard got even looser fitting to the point where it was practically useless and would fall into the disposal all the time. That's where this new one enters the picture. It comes in two different sizes so I made sure to measure the opening as well as my old splash guard to make sure I got the correct size. The old one measured about 3 1/8 but I knew that was too small so I went with the next size up, 3 3/8, which turned out to be perfect. The fit is pretty snug and you could press it down and it would stay just fine but on my disposal there is a bit of a bump and detent so if you press down just a bit more the guard snugs into place with a very satisfying POP which locks it in place. It's a small thing but that pop sound and the feel of it as it snapped into place was very rewarding after dealing with the super loose one for years. I'm REALLY happy with this purchase, probably more than is reasonable for a garbage disposal sink guard.

Perfect fit for my Moen garbage disposal!
Dropped it in, gave it a little push and it snapped firmly into place thanks to the small rounded groove near. It's nice and flexible so I have no problems pushing food waste through it. Easy to remove as well for cleaning or if something falls through that shouldn't. I only ordered one because I wanted to make sure it fit well, it fits great! I will definitely be ordering a couple more to keep on hand for when this one gets to a point where it needs replacing.

Works too? well
Does work as a splash guard, but the geometry encourages trapped food particles underneath, in the corners of the design and along the cut edges—which appear rough. Trapped food particles can create odor from the sink. Water flow from the sink is significantly slower, as well. So maybe it does its job (preventing splashes) a little too well.
