The TS9, like every effects pedal, will alter your input signal based on its electronics. What your amp does after that is based on its design. A solid state amp and a tube amp heavily-driven are completely different beasts. Most of us that play sit in the middle. I usually use a Fender Deluxe VM with 40w, on "3" because anything more attracts a lot of attention. It is still much richer than any solid state amp. If I could turn it to "6" or better, I could hear sounds that God intended us to hear.If you have a solid state amp now, feel free to explore the world of effects or even buy a multi-effects processor. I have a Line 6 HD500X processor and it models everything - every pedal, effect, amp, etc, and you just put that out through a clean channel like some studio monitors. Then you can do everything. Amazing Legendary pedal hand's down! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great overdrive with an outstanding tone control *by C***O on April 8, 2015* This is a fantastic overdrive pedal. It is a classic for a reason, it produces a fantastic tone and let's you dial in the right amount of overdrive (nothing too heavy though, for that get a distortion, not an overdrive). Not only is it a great overdrive, it also helps shapping the tone of your guitar. Owning a Gretsch Electromatic G5435T it is known that the high end of this guitar is not great, in fact I used to play almost every song using the neck pickup. With the arrival of the TS9 this is no longer the case, it brings the Gretsch bridge pickup alive. My favorite feature of this pedal is the tone control. It produces such a fantastic tone cranked all the way up that my guitar sounds just wrong when this pedal is off. It functions as a booster for your signal bringing out the mids and highs, without killing your low end. Since I don't own a booster pedal yet I am leaving the tone cranked all the way up and dial the Drive knob according to the song. I love the tone so much that I don't even want to to play the clean signal of my guitar. I will probably get an EP Booster soon and that way I can back off the tone knob a little bit and let the booster do most of the tone shapping.
