great for the money
So a friend of mine owns a bowling alley and will drill upto 50 balls a week. The bits are a #2 mortise taper carbide tip and not cheap. He has been sending them in 8 bucks a piece and praying they do not get lost in the mail. So I told him to buy this wheel and I would put it on a shaper spindle for my Shopsmith and set the table to a 2 Degree angle and my miter to a 59 degree angle and we would give it a go. I sharpened 10 of them today and it did not even start to wear the diamonds off. All of the bits was 1 inch or bigger carbide. I personally have a couple of carbide saw blades I want to touch up up but so far I am very impressed. It is very well made very balanced. I am just lining the edge up and give them a good kiss not getting crazy. These are meant to grind back the carbide only. If the supporting steel the carbide is brazed too is making contact it should be ground back using a normal grinding wheel. I will never use this wheel for anything other than carbide. The bit or stone should not get hot when using. It worked awesome on my Shopsmith Mrk5. For sure worth the money.
