It has 4 full length battens which have multiple benefits. Our full batten mainsails have 4% more square footage than the standard batten version giving it noticibly more power in light wind. Full battens control the sail when you have to sheet out in a puff so they prevent the sail from flogging making it much more tame. Also since there is no stress concentration at the inboard end of the batten pocket like standard battens, the sail shapes better and last longer.This mainsail is built to typical production boat OEM (original equipment manufactured) construction standards and is a cost effective alternative to expensive custom sails. It is made from high quality cruising grade U.S. Dacron and has a leech line to prevent the trailing edge from fluttering. Luff hardware or bolt rope (see data) is used to attach to the mast and make hoisting and lowering the mainsail more convenient. The foot attaches to the boom with a bolt rope (or hardware on some models) and heavy outhaul slug at the clew. The panels are sewn with one wide pass of triple step stitching using a top quality UV resistant thread.It is intended for daysailing and light inshore cruising.
