Better Nature - Organic Tempeh 200g (6 Pack) Vegan Friendly Plant-Based Protein

Have just bought some more. It’s vacuum packed on arrival so it looks smaller than it is. Steam for 10 mins and let sit in hot steamy pan for a while. It will expand. Then marinade 24 hrs in fridge. Then cook. Try a recipe from General Tso (YouTube) which was brilliant. I also just marinated with olive oil and some spices and cooked in air fryer, to add to wraps etc. so much nicer than quorn or tofu… and very filling. The meat eaters in my family have given it the thumbs up. It’s great value for money too. The only downside is you won’t be able to culture your own tempeh starter from it. Or at least I tried, but with no success.

I didn’t know what to expect. There were reviews saying that it tasted funny and I’d only ever had tempeh once before and it was in a pie 4 years ago… So, the package arrived today, cooled with reusable ice packs 🙏🏼! I will reuse! The rest was cardboard, so happy with that too. And I cooked one of the recipes in the card I found in the package: teriyaki tempeh! It was easy to make 1/2 recipe because it’s just me and I’d rather cook fresh than reheat! Didn’t call for too many odd ingredients (I just happened to have liquid smoke, it’s optional anyway)! It gave the teriyaki recipe from scratch! The whole thing was amazing, a little on the salty side, but plain rice and stir fried veggies without salt or soy sauce mopped that up. Very pleased with the flavour and texture. Especially the texture, nice and chewy out of the pack. Didn’t have to do anything to it to make it solid, unlike some tofu which often has the texture of barely cooked scrambled eggs (yuck). It absorbed the marinade flavours! All in all, this product is a keeper! And 2 ingredients: soy beans + culture!

Although there's a delay in confirming the arrival of my package but it arrived with good quality box with 2 ice packs to keep the tempeh fresh. I ordered 5pcs but they gave me 7pcs. It tastes so good! It's been a long time searching tempeh (Indonesian food) here in the UK. So I'm glad I found them.

Slices fried in butter until browned , add an egg , Thai basil and serve with chilli sauce. Yummy. Delivered fast and chilled, the price has increased a little, but now you get 6 packets rather than 5. The impressive cold packaging and Royal Mail 24h delivery are worth the little extra you pay compared to Tesco or Asda who do not stock it in my nearest stores. It freezes perfectly.

sometimes it is good to change the taste

It is a fantastic protein-source in a wholesome plant-based diet, but it also makes a formidable addition to any other kind. I rely on tempeh to make sure my macros are complete which it fulfills beautifully, and due to the organic origin the ingredients are up to standards as well. I’ve tried several brands, however, so far Better Nature is at the forefront in taste too. The prices is outstanding as well in comparison to other quality brands, especially ordered in a 12-pack. I recommend it highly.

I’ve used this tempeh for a while now, but have just started to buy it from Amazon. It’s very versatile and can be frozen so you can buy in bulk. There are other flavours and shaped pieces as well. I’m hoping that Amazon start stocking the mince as well.

They stopped selling these in Lidl so I was happy to find them on Amazon (though a lot more expensive unfortunately). Really great texture and super easy to add great flavour by marinating for less than half an hour. I find Tempeh really picks up flavour more easily than tofu - AND it’s fermented to great for the gut :)
