Bosch product well engineered.
I saw several negative reviews on this product, however after purchasing many Bosch items over many years I decided to order it and see for myself, I found the product well made mainly off metal sheet the motor assembly was plastic however this because high levels of condensation will be sucked through and would corrode any other material, the hood fitted the standard cutout in my housing so was a relatively easy install, my only criticism would be Bosch really should supply the reducing spigot you need to allow the attachment of the 4" flexible hose or ducting! I had to go to a local supplier to purchase this and facilitate the connection, I have had the fan now for a month it extracts better than my old unit is quieter and an upgrade, so now to the "cons" if you call them that, if steaming with high levels of condensate then there is a little of that liquid which will build up and drip very little from the underside off filter of hood, I personally don't find this a design fault but an inevitable consequence of the very high levels of condensation which I doubt any fan could cope with unless you increase the output and size of fan which would increase the fan noise housing size and so-on, I am happy with purchase!

Avoid! Just paying for the name.
My first thought when lifting it out of the box was "wow that's small and light" as it weight about half the size and weight of the cheap one I was replacing, which shows that most of it is plastic and not very robust. My second thought was, "Oh no this is a fake, the quality can't be that bad!" as most of the clip in plastic parts (pre installed) look really cheap and/or don't fit properly, the finish is poor and the internal electrical fittings are all exposed to the steam and all wobble as you move it about, but Bosch accepted the registration code that came with it so it must be genuine. I bought this as it stated that the draw was twice that of my previous one at the same noise level but is just isn't. At full power I still get steam rising past and away from the hood. One other irritation with this is that as the steam passes into the hood it condenses on the motor and drips back down onto the centre of the grease filler and back down onto the cooker top or into your food. I wont be buying another Bosch again as it was cheaper build than that of the £150 one it replaced, that the switch had gone after 5 years.

Avoid! Poor qualitt
Item not as expected quality, poorly packaged leading to damage and power cord and instructions missing - a common feature going by other reviews! Instead of sending the power lead and instructions, they wanted me to return the whole unit and they would send another one - more delays and what a waste of resources shipping the whole unit back and forth

Avoid
Avoid, it simply does not work. The steam goes past the hood, very little is actually extracted. I’m having to replace it after 1.5 years as I can see the kitchen using that is housing it, is beginning to peel off.
