## Description

From the manufacturer TD-3-AM Analog Bass Line Synthesizer with VCO, VCF, 16-Step Sequencer, Distortion Effects and 16-Voice Poly Chain Amazing Bass Line synthesizer with true analog circuitry for bass and groove sounds MIDI and USB implementation with MIDI channel and Voice Priority selection Pure analog signal path based on legendary VCO, VCF, and VCA designs Sawtooth and square waveform VCO with transistor wave-shaping circuitry Amazing 4-pole low-pass resonant filter with cut-off, resonance, envelope, decay and accent controls Easy-to-use 16-step sequencer with 7 tracks, each with 250 user patterns Authentic reproduction of original circuitry with matched transistors Only produced from 1981 to 1984, the Roland TB-303 was a tremendous commercial flop as a replacement for the bass guitar, however it soon found its place as one of the most-loved synthesizers for what became known as Electronic Dance Music (EDM). An ultra-affordable and faithful homage to the iconic synthesizer that spawned house music, plus an all-new Distortion circuit, the TD-3-AM lets you conjure up virtually any sound with incredible finesse and ease. With its pure analog signal path, 16-step Sequencer and authentic VCO, VCF and VCA filters, the TD-3-AM is sure to become one of your favorite synthesizers. Pure Analog Signal Path Great care has been taken in engineering the TD-3-AM, including the true to the original VCO, VCF and VCA designs and pure analog circuitry with matched transistors. This highly-focused attention to detail is what gives TD-3-AM its ultra-flexible sound shaping capability, which covers everything from super-fat bass and lead tones to stunning effects – all the way out to the otherworldly sounds of your imagination. Rock Right out-of-the Box! Your TD-3-AM comes ready to rock, thanks to its default signal routing that doesn’t require lifting a single patch cable to instantly create amazing sounds. The highly-intuitive layout lets you easily tap into the inspired sounds of 1980s and ’90s progressive rock, wave, EDM and synth-pop music tracks that made rock and roll history – or to design incredibly fat and original sounds that will make you a legend in your own right! Versatile VCF The very heart of TD-3-AM’s sound is its versatile 24 dB/octave filter, which lets you freely experiment with the low-pass Cutoff frequency and Resonance settings to dial in the perfect sound. Vintage Oscillator TD-3-AM’s authentic Voltage Controlled Oscillator (VCO) with transistor wave-shaping circuitry is ultra-easy to use and provides your choice of reverse-sawtooth or pulse waveforms for the ultimate in sound creation. Onboard Sequencer The onboard sequencer with 7 tracks allows you to program up to 16 steps of notes and rests and save them as a Pattern. You can record, save and recall up to 250 patterns, all of which can be stored in the 4 Groups. Your sequences can be played either in Keyboard mode, where you create and store the pattern, or Step mode which allows you to interact while composing a pattern. Kick it Into Distortion! We saved one of the most exciting features for the last stage in the all-analog signal path – Distortion! When you want to add even more power to your performance, just flip the Distortion On/Off switch and dial in the perfect amount of Drive to push the “envelope” to the max. The crowd won’t know what hit ‘em! 16-Note Poly Chain Ready While it is a monophonic instrument (one note at a time), TD-3-AM’s 16-note Poly Chain function lets you combine multiple synthesizers for up to 16-voice polyphony – plus provides vastly improved reliability and stability over its 1970s and '80s predecessors. Controls & Connectivity We just can’t help ourselves – like you, we're gear-heads, too. For those who want the numbers, TD-3-AM has 11 controls and 28 switches to give you direct and real-time access to all important parameters, all laid out in a highly-intuitive format that puts the joy back into your music creation. And you can expand TD-3-AM’s tone-sculpting capabilities beyond your wildest dreams by utilizing the multi-I/O patchbay to connect external devices! Unleash Your Imagination When it comes to not just pushing envelopes but creating them, TD-3-AM gives your imagination its voice – and it’s so very affordable. When modern performance calls for classic analog sound – it calls for the Behringer TD-3-AM! Visit your dealer to experience the stunning TD-3-AM or get yours online today. Music never felt this good!

Review: A well made clone of a classic - I own a few 303 clones, and this Behringer TD-3 punches well above the price tag, especially when desertcart is selling them for £85. Many people are a little hesitant about the onboard sequencer, but it is true to the original '80s design, a little annoying to use at first, but really not that hard. Besides, you can program it via the free SynthTribe software provided on their site. Having MIDI in/out is a massive bonus compared to the original that only had DINSync and this one has a built-in Boss DS-1 style distortion. All these added extras just make it more appealing, and you can do MIDI over USB as well, along with any potential firmware updates. The sound is pretty much what you would expect from a 303, and I've used plenty of original '80s ones to know that they all sound a little different anyway. You can unscrew this TD-3 and mess with the factory filter setting if you want to dial it I too taste, plus once you have EQ'd it and added effects it will sit really nicely in the mix. Overall, a bit of a bargain at well under £100 for a slice of classic mono synth, and 'that filter' is a lot of fun.
Review: Does just one thing, but does it so very well. - First up let me say that i sequence this from another piece of kit, so i can't say much about the built in sequencer on this. But i have one friend who says that they have maybe been a little too faithful in copying most of the original 303, when they should probably have simplified that one aspect of it. . My only other criticisms of this would be that the plastic case does feel a bit cheap to the touch (though the original probably did too). And i would have liked this to have come with a USB cable included, since adding USB audio and MIDI is something more modern that they have seen fit to add (wisely, if you ask me). . But those quibbles aside, i have to say that if you are in the market for a cheap 303 clone then look no further. This is what you want. This just has FUN written all over it. Yes, it only makes the one sound, and that's it. But there have been times i've played with this for ages with no other sound running except a simple 4/4 kick drum loop. . The cutoff and resonance knobs do actually feel like they are built to withstand the kind of use and abuse that they are going to get. The built in distortion is good, but putting this through a cheap fuzzbox (and a little reverb) is even better. Overall the sound can not be faulted. . The main audio out is a single quarter inch jack on the back. But there is also a 3.5mm jack on the top for headphones. And apart from the USB there is also the standard 5 pin MIDI in and out sockets on the back. There is also a selection of other small jack in and out sockets on the top for things like CV and gate, but i have yet to try these. But the standard 5 pin MIDI works straight out of the box, taking it's signal from any hardware sequencer that i tried, no problem. Though it's worth mentioning that the default MIDI channel is 1, which took me a moment to figure out as i am more used to kit defaulting to 9, 10, or 11 (depending on what kind of thing it is). But once i did figure this out then we were up and running with no more hiccups. This also connected to my computer and DAW seamlessly. And within only a minute or so i was writing parts for it from my old iMac that's still running the outdated O.S. ''High Sierra''. . I know that there are probably some none music-making people who will think that spending his kind of money of something that just makes one sound is a stupid thing to do. But what do they know?! That this is as good as it is and comes under £300, even under £200, is mind blowing enough. But if you are not fussy about the colour then there are ones on here for even under £100, which is nothing short of incredible.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: How does this output audio?**
A: Audio out is through a single mono 1/4" jack. There is a USB port on the device, but is used for MIDI IN/OUT, not audio.

**Q: Hi, What kind of power adapter do I need for this?**
A: 9v 300mA, the same as used for your standard Boss stomp box, etc.

**Q: 5 prong midi capable?**
A: Yes indeed! It has a midi "in" port, and a midi "out/thru" port. These are both 5 Pin Midi DIN ports.

**Q: must other necessary accessories/wires/adapters be purchased with it or are they provided so that my 11 y/o can play it the moment she opens the box?**
A: You need to buy adapters and wires

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ brilliant choice for the 'TB303 acid bass sound' at a low price point
*by A***R on 2 September 2021*

This is a fantastic recreation of the early 80's TB303. the looks, suond and operation system are pretty much 1:1 compared to the tb303 of 1981. The TD-3 actually improves on that design a little with better/larger knobs, midi ports, more in's outs but still keeps that classic sound and way of programming the machine with an extra 'random mode'. No need to spend thousand on a 40 year old tb303 from ebay/reverb you not know the difference in a mix. Things NOT the same as the 1981 tb303: not battery operated as an option, no slip case. not dyn sync - now midi to hook up to other synths. Other than that - Brilliant.
