Whoa, the plum paste just arrived yesterday and I'm already being asked to rate it ~ but that's okay because I did open and taste it immediately. It is certainly authentic "ume" and what I grew up eating in rice balls or to aid in digestion when under-the-weather. The paste is the best part of the preserved plum, it's the innards minus the fleshy skin and seed. It is sharp, tangy, salty and flavorful. It makes the back of my jaw hurt with saliva thinking about it. A dab or two mixed in hot rice sprinkled with seaweed flakes and sesame seeds...yum! I've got the rice going now.

This is absolutely delicious I really love Japanese pickled plums and this is going to be really nice on rice. Would buy this item again, also it's a really pretty purple color 💜

It's not quite what I was expecting, but it does have a nice spice to it. The added Shiso has a nice balance to it, starting off somewhat hot then it becomes mild with a touch of sweet from the Shiso and fruit. It goes great with chicken and I plan on adding it to onigiri. The plastic wrap on the bottle took a bit of work to remove though as the plastic bottle feels kinda flimsy and I was afraid to puncture the bottle.

After I read the review I was compelled to buy it. It was a decent size for the price and flavor was great. I thought you cannot eat itself because too much salt, but when mixed with something it is great! I mix a small amount with a bowl of rice to make a rice ball, mix with sliced cucumbers and add a vinegar to make a sunomono salad, and dilute with hot water to make soup base. You can be very creative. I am watching sodium, so I enjoy a bit by bit.

Tasty but honestly I didn't read the ingredients before purchasing. The color was weirdly vibrant and when I did read the label, I was disappointed. Ended up throwing this out and purchasing a different product that has no artificial colors or components that tastes exactly the same and looks better on top of being better overall. The price point should've warned me. If the ingredients don't matter to you, it'll definitely give you a punch salt and sour if you're into that.

We use this often and it is easier to use this squeeze tube rather than the whole plum. It takes up less space in my refrigerator.

Love this stuff. If you like to eat Chamoy with fruit, this plum sauce is next level. My fav thing to do is put frozen mango or strawberries in a container with a small amount of the plum sauce and shake it up.

More interesting that dried herb/salt mixtures on Rice. Nice with roasted vegetables on-top of seasoned rice and not at all sweet like some US sauces
