Exceeded my expectations!
We are in the middle of gutting our northern Minnesota cabin and haven't had running water for months. This toilet has been a lifesaver!! I upgraded to the manual flush which was $50 more and took a week longer to arrive, but we intend to use it as a winter toilet when our water is shut off and I didn't want to worry about batteries exploding. Plus, I read several reviews where people were having issues with the battery flush system. We added some RV antifreeze to the water and didn't have any issues when it was dropping below freezing. We are using the Walex Porta-Pak Black Tank Deoderizer Drop-ins that I saw recommended and RV toilet paper and we have been amazed at how there is no smell and how easy it is to empty. The Walex Drop-ins help break everything down quickly. When it's full I empty it into our in-ground holding tank. I was nervous the first time because I read some horror stories, but if you use the correct products and press the button at the top to release air pressure then everything should come out with no mess. If you are emptying it into a toilet you would want to hold it as close to the water as you could or there could be some splashing, which would be true even if you were pouring plain water into the toilet. This toilet is very sturdy and comfortable and even my 70+ year old mother-in-law used it and was impressed. That's really saying something!! The bottom line is, use the right products and read the directions and you will be glad you invested in this toilet!

Easy to dump, very affordable, no smell.
I’m a full time urban van lifer. My first toilet is a nature’s head, which costs over 1000 dollars. That thing is hard to dump and smells very bad(some might say I’m not using it correctly. But if you are charging someone 1000 for a toilet, the least you can do is to make it fool proof). So I went ahead and looked for alternatives. There’s another kind of toilet out there that also costs 1000 bucks and it wraps up your poo in tin foil so there’s no smell, but you have to buy cartridge refills and it ends up costing around a dollar every time you use it. That wouldn’t work for me because I’m a full timer and use my toilet probably 5 times a day. Then I discovered this toilet. It’s been a few months now and I’m still very happy with it. You can take care of the dumping every easily with a leak proof, drawstring trash bag thanks to the conveniently designed outlet tube. For me, my thetford gets full every week since I’m a full timer, and so I dump it every week. Takes less than 10 minutes. This should be the gold standard for rv toilets.

Best portable toilet available
This is my second one of these, I’ve used the first one at deer camp for 10 years, the pump just went out in it and the seals are starting to leak when it’s full so I ordered a new one. Most comfortable portable toilet you can get

Great Toilet - Electric Water Pump - Full Size Bowl
This toilet will be used year round, and full time in our cabin. So far i've only had it for a couple of days, but I've seen this potty to be well manufactured, durable, it's the exact height of a household toilet, it has a normal oval deep toilet-bowl, and has an electronic pump to flush with, versus the typical manual piston pump style. More important, the mount and lock device which keeps the fresh water & toilet bowl well sealed to the dirty water holding tank is well designed and does not leak. Thetford also gives a 3 year warranty on this unit so if anything including the electric water pump fails, they cover it without proration or will replace the unit if they cant fix it. That's what sold me. There are other reviews on this forum which claim this unit has been discontinued, but as of 12/10/21 this is still in full production. I had previously purchased another porta potty from a different manufacturer and what I've learned from this purchase is that the typical porta potty's have a manual piston pump for flushing which isnt very powerful, the toilet bowl is round instead of an oval shape like a household toilet, and is extremely shallow, so if your not careful, your JUNK can easily go swimming with the tootsie rolls if you know what I mean. The worst part of this other toilet is that after about a week of usage, the clips which mount the toilet bowl to the dirty water holding tank loosened up which no longer allowed a tight seal, which lets liquid to leak between the units onto the ground, as well as makes for an unsanitary job of carrying the dirty holding tank to it's dump location. Now that I've bought a Thetford Porta POTTI 565E Curve 4/5.5G, these issues have all been "FLUSHED DOWN THE DRAIN" My point here is that my family and I are thrilled with our Thetford Porta POTTI 565E Curve 4/5.5G. It's hands Down, far superior to any other porta potty on the market. Buy it, you won't be disappointed, and you'll have the peace of mind that for the next 3 years and beyond, this unit should do it's job

Update 04/06/2026 👍🏼 Estaré probándolo a ver qué tal sale. En las fotos parece más pequeño pero es bastante grande y cómodo. I'll be trying it to see how it works out. In the photos it looks smaller but it is quite large and comfortable. Update After a year of use moving it dragging it, putting and removing the top to carry the bottom and throw away the water. I haven't had any problems so far, the gaskets and closures work well. The only difficult thing is to clean it when needed and that you must be careful when gases form that in such a case you should not open the tank if the top cover is open because everything comes out flying or splashing. Apart from the above, excellent portable bathroom. And thank God I haven't had problems with the water pump.

Outstanding product -- right height and easy to maintain!
when our existing Thetford toilet began giving us some problems recently, we knew what item would replace it ... THE EXACT SAME MODEL. Our prior camp toilet had been in use for nearly 10 years. We like the seat height, we like the ease of "flush" ... and the ease of emptying the tank. And our camper does not need a "black water" tank, only gray water for shower and sink. This is so much simpler. We love this Thetford camp toilet.

Would buy it again
Second best thing we have bought for our camper van. The first being our Arb refrigerator. We have stealth camped in many locations and having the ability to use a toilet without leaving the van is priceless. We have had zero issues with it. Useful tip is open the flush valve BEFORE use. The waste tank holds atmospheric pressure and will spray waste on you if you open it after use with the lid still open. You can remove the waste tank and drain it in any toilet. Would definitely buy again

Awesome
This is set up in my sprinter camper/moto van. I have used the potty several times as well as my son and wife. It sure beats a port a John and the emptying is really not difficult or too gross. The cassette design is nice and it holds a surprising amount of clean water to flush. The built in TP holder is fantastic. I would highly recommend this if you are looking for a portable potty.
