The Door Buddy Pet Door Latch for Cats (Grey) has been absolutely perfect for our basement door setup. We needed a way to keep the dog out of the litter box area, but adding a gate at the top of the stairs would have made carrying laundry up and down really dangerous. This was such a smart and simple solution. It allows the door to stay cracked just enough for the cats to slip through, while keeping the dog out. And let’s be honest — kitties hate closed doors! This gives them the freedom they want while still maintaining separation where we need it. I especially love that you can easily lift the latch up to open the door normally. It’s quick and convenient when we need full access. Another thoughtful touch is that it includes instructions for removing the adhesive if needed, which gave me extra confidence installing it. Overall, it’s easy to use, effective, and much safer than a gate in our situation. Highly recommend for multi-pet households!

I LOVE THIS THING! I just got a kitten, and I wasn't sure how I was going to acclimate her to my dog (a 40lb blue heeler). While my dog LOVES cats, I was afraid he might love her too much and she might be smothered. I was also worried about my dog having access to the kitten's litter box and cat food (because she would probably eat both). I looked at tons of gates, but reviews were spotty and I didn't want to spend a lot of money or have to do a lot of work to go in and out of the room myself. Also, I was afraid that my dog would (because she certainly could) climb the dog gate, as some reviewers had mentioned their dogs would do. Then I stumbled upon this. The installation was a breeze (literally just stick the ends of each to the door and the door panel, respectively). Let that dry for some time (like the instructions say). If you try to skip that step, your dog will be able to bust through (trust me on this). After that happened, I re-applied the pad and let it sit for the recommended amount of time. Then I let me dog try to get into the room. NOPE! It kept her out without a problem. After a few attempts, she gave up altogether and now she won't even go in if the door is open. I LOVE how easy it is for me to go in and out just by flicking the pin up or popping it back in. It is a cute design, and it means that the kitten can have her own private area where her kitty box and food and toys are. This was so much less expensive than the gate options I was considering, and it works like a charm.

It holds well and keeps my delinquent dog from stealing the cat food. The only caveat is that cats can accidentally lock themselves in the room if they push the door closed. So if you use this, you’ll want to somehow block the door from fully closing.

So I quickly searched up how to keep my dog out to avoid anything serious. I was skeptical at first, the price mainly, but didn’t have many alternatives as he found out how to get in even with the little box on a stool. Set up was very easy and it was delivered very quickly! Simple directions with few different ways you can set up. Took one minute to put together, all I had to do was stick on the door. Got the placement perfect and it holds very well. I even tug on it accidentally sometimes and it still hasn’t budged. Keeps my sneaky dog out but let’s the cat in, just as advertised. I’m happy with it so far, two weeks in, and it’s very sturdy. The price is the only thing I don’t like, it’s good quality yes but still, $20 for the little fabric with a hook? But hey, it works!

Review: We’ve been using this for years and it has held up during daily use by an 8 year old boy. Does a great job keeping the dog out of the bathroom but leaves enough space for the cat to get in and out without issue. Easy to operate, no hassle. Latches right side up and upside down. Con: My only qualm is that it gets dirty fairly quickly. I spray it with stain remover and agitate it in a bowl of fresh water a few times until it runs clear every week or so. Suggestion: If they made the straps removable I would have multiple pairs and just run them through the washer with the white towels.

We have two kittens who have their litter box and food upstairs in our cape cod home. The door is an accordion door that the cats know how to open as well. The problem is we have a dog that can't go upstairs when we are away from work because she will destroy things. This allows up to keep the door from sliding open far enough for our dog to get in and just enough for the kittens to come and go. It was easy to install and is good quality.

I had gotten one of the Latch straps for another door in the house and it worked great. I tried their plastic door latch extension, but because the path you walked into the room at, you could get snagged on it. So I bought another one of the Latch straps and it works great! Nice feel, the hook is easy to latch and unlatch, and it looks nice.
