The TEKTON 1/2 in. Drive x 1 in. Shallow Impact Socket is engineered for use with impact drivers. It has a 6-point opening that snugly fits the hex shape of fastener heads, allowing it to apply maximum torque without slipping. To prevent round-off under stress, it grips the flat sides of fastener heads rather than the corners. Easy to read even in low light, the large, high-contrast size marking is permanently laser etched into the steel surface. The through-hole in the drive end locks onto the tang of impact wrenches or drivers so it won't fall off or stick on fastener heads. To protect against rust and corrosion, the black phosphate finish absorbs and holds oil, repelling moisture.

Does NOT fit a 2012 Fiat 500.
I am giving the socket 5 stars because it is of good quality even though it did not fit my application. I will not be an idiot like other people and give it 1 star just because I did not buy the correct item. The special socket needed is called several things. Some companies call it a thin-walled socket. Some call it stepped. I included a picture of what the specialized socket looks like, and you can see how it has less material for it to fit in the abnormal Fiat hubs. I supposed I could always just stick this socket on a lathe to remove some of its material. :D

Perfect Fit - Nice Finish - Rock Strong- Great Axle Nut Socket
Perfect Fit Nice Finish Rock Strong, I had bought a budget priced socket as I figured I'd only use this once or twice in a lifetime for my daughters Honda Accord Axles nuts, the other socket was supposed to be 36mm but after putting it on the axles the slop was huge, I measured it at 36.9+mm, not something you want to use to break 250-300 fl-lbs of static torque.I immediately ordered the Tekton socket, I have purchased alot of Tekton tools, 3 torque wrenches, numerous extensions, various wrench sets, accessories and on and on and all are perfect. I was waiting outside for the UPS guy to come and put this on the axles nut and it fit perfect, no slop. Used a 1000 ft-lb impact gun to take off those pesky axles nuts that I could not get off after spraying with PB blaster for 3 days, heated up with MAP gas for 15 mins and then even tried a 2 foot breaker bar with a 2 foot long pipe on t, no budge. This socket ate up the torques of my impact and the stuck axle nut with no problems. Had both nuts off in less than 40 seconds.Never again will I care about a few dollars even if I use a tool just once, will stick with Tekton forever.

“Lazer Etched” does not mean etched
I purchased this for use on lug nuts. It arrived quickly with Amazon Prime. It appears to be well made. However I am returning it for two reasons: (1) the size is not etched into the socket. The description reads “lazer etched.” That is deceptive because he label is not actually embedded into the finish. The size is merely printed on. If the printing wears off, which typically happens to tools over time with use, there will be no way to easily select the right socket. (2) there is noticeable play on the lug nut. That might be normal, or it might not. But one of the other reviewers suggested that this may indicate a standard size socket rebranded to appear to be metric. For the price charged ($13.00), this product is, in my view, not a great value.

TEXTON MAKES SOME PRETTY GOOD SOCKETS
I just started using these a couple of years ago. I like this brand becuase its alot cheaper and yet the sockets are very durable and fit well on the fittings. I never broke one yet. Most of the sockets they sell are marked on the outside and that makes it handy to find when changing sockets. I have been working on cars and engines for about 45 years. I tend to laugh at what is invented now days. It makes life so much easier when working on engines and such. Big labels on the outside of the socket.. and then there are special sockets that fit over long studs. Years ago one just had to grin and bare it.. as your knuckles got skinned up. Nowdays they use gloves and have to have this and that.. For a good basic socket that is well made and is accurate in its fit this is the socket for you. If you want challenges buy some of those harbor freight sockets. They dont fit well and have alot of play when trying to turn the fittings. These sockets are very durable and long lasting. I will probaly lose it or misplace it before it breaks if ever. Some of my tools get lost in the inner fenders of cars and i cant find them and then when driving one hears a clunk and it makes me say.. that must have been that socket!

It works, but...
I ordered this to take the CV Axle bolt off of my SUV, which it did wonderfully for. The only issue is that it is either so heavy, or the tolerances so loose, that it would fall off of my breaker bar if it was pointed towards the ground, leading to having to pick it up out of the dirt if I forgot to hold it on. My breaker bar is a fairly nice Dewalt 23" (which I also bought brand-new for the job) with the spring-loaded retaining ball (which almost all of them have, but I could see people wondering if that was missing on my breaker bar if the socket was just "falling off").All-in-all, a good value for the money, since it's also impact rated and made in the US, and a similar socket will cost twice as much (not impact rated, and made in China... I'm looking at you Dewalt) but I felt the extra loose tolerances justified the lower rating.

Cro moly not vanadium
*update, went to Oreilly's auto parts store and their 34mm socket measured just a hair under 35mm, it's even sloppier than this socket. why manufacturer's add this much slop to the tool I don't get, but I guess this socket is gonna be as good as it getsSocket looks great but I bought it thinking it was cro vanadium, package says cro van but socket says cr mo. I heard moly doesn't last as long so vanadium is a good compromise, that must be why harbor freight makes all their stuff with vanadium. Anyways look at the picture. Makes no sense. Also with my measuring caliper wall to wall measures about 34.5 to 34.6mm, so it fits really loose on a 34mm nut. for me this is a deal breaker. I measured a 32mm socket from harbor freight and it's 32.3mm roughly, so an extra 2mm is twice as sloppy? that makes no sense and I won't accept it. I'll take my caliper with me to the store and find a better socket

Didn't fit my Rheem
The 1 1/16 part is correct. Unfortunately, the outer diameter of the entire socket was too great to fit into the cut out opening atop my water heater in which the anode rod sits. I couldn't fit the socket into the hole to even get near the anode rod. Will be searching for a thin wall socket at this point.

Very strong

Buena calidad

Very decent socket.
Lost my pervious my 15mm socket in a vehicle while working on, no chose but to buy a new one. Most common sizes i use. Recommend the socket, socket is durable and impact rated. Used it many times now and has held up. Easy to read the size on the socket. Would recommend.

Convenient "spare" socket for use swapping tires
Rather than swapping my socket between impact wrench, torque wrench, and ratchet while swapping tires, i leave this on the impact wrench.I ordered a deep socket because it also allows me to use it with my breaker bar or torque wrench if required (the extra length prevents contact with the fenders)Ive used it for 3 years now and its holding up well

Perfect fit
When this arrived I opened and instantly mounted to my high torque 1400ftlb impact gun, went outside and opened and tightened a couple of lug nuts on the big rig. No problem at all. Will buy it again if needed.
