BATAVIA – Once again, Aurora has taken the crown when it comes to its drinking water. A panel of three judges decided that Aurora had the best drinking water based on taste, odor and clarity during the Kane County Water Association’s annual water-tasting contest Thursday at Lincoln Inn Banquets in Batavia. This is the fifth time Aurora has won the contest, the most of any community in Kane County. Montgomery won last year. The award has been presented since 1997. Those in charge of the city’s water production did not take the honor lightly. Aurora’s drinking water is a blend of well water and Fox River water. “We have a well-run plan and an excellent staff,” said Bob Leible, assistant superintendent of water production for Aurora. “You certainly don’t want your customers to be disappointed with the water that comes out of the tap.” Before Thursday’s win, the last time Aurora had taken the award was in 2008. Aurora now will compete in the state competition next year. “It is a little bit of bragging rights between the communities,” Leible said. Aurora, along with Batavia, Geneva, St. Charles, North Aurora, Sugar Grove, Montgomery, Yorkville and Elgin, participated in this year’s contest. On the panel of judges was Kane County Sheriff Pat Perez. The samples from each community were submitted in unmarked beakers so judges did not know whose water they were drinking. Perez said he found the task difficult as he sniffed and carefully eyed the beakers of water. All that great tasting water is filtered through this great filter. We have had this filter system for 2 years and replace the filter annually as the water flow starts decreasing after 10 months of use. We have 3 adults and 1 child using this filter.

Timely delivery. We'll packaged. I have used these whole house filters for 3 years. The system was recommended by my plumber. The household water is less harsh. Clothes come out fresher. Well worth the money.

Supplier did an excellent job with shipping !!! Expensive, and not recycle-able container, no way to 'test' this item's defectiveness - unless you have PROFESSIONAL EQUIPMENT. I also have a "water softener" that takes SALT so ended up adding a "pressure meter" BEFORE - entry side, and one @ EXIT side. so if the EXT pressure drops to say- more than 10% and that's my 'indication' of change to new unit

I'm very happy with this filter. I've been running these things for about 3 years now. It's been around 1 per year so far. I suppose if money wasn't an issue, I probably would get a new one around the 6-8 month mark. This is around the time I can tell the water pressure starts to dwindle a little bit. The quality of the water though is unaffected by this. I have no done any water consumption calculations to see if their 100,000 gallon number is accurate or not. I do run a 100 micron spin down filter before this for more efficiency.

It's a great filter. The body is easy to install and it is simple to replace the cartridge. I have a lot of iron in my water, so I have a sediment filter, then the water softener, and then this unit to finish things up. When I moved in there was only the water softener and the water tasted and smelled bad. It really made a huge difference in the odor and taste. I just read some other reviews about it only lasting a month before it clogged up. They do not have it installed correctly. It is a 5 micron filter and it needs a sediment pre-filter installed first. I change that every 3 months and it is clogged with mud every time. My AP917HD cartridges easily last 6 months because of that.

I have been using this for 18 months now. I have a well with heavy sediment content and a strong "swamp" smell. First step is a Rusco spin down filter with a 500 mesh that I have to clean once per month or two, then the pressure tank, then the Aqua Pure. The water is clean with absolutely no sediment, no smell and no taste. The pressure does not seem to be an issue, the tank is set at 70ppg. I have pressure assisted toilets that are one story up and 30 ft from source that function fine. The pipe plumbing is not the best 1/2 inch PEX with no manifolds. (Yikes) So the story on this is good pressure transference, adequate life (may turn out excellent) and does the job of cleaning water.

What I need

We bought this filter and changed the water filter recently but water flow was very low and when the plumber checked it found out that the filter is defective we need to return or exchange the filter to new one. We missed our return window couple of days ago, please advice.
