An excellent laptop at a very reasonable price.
My wife needed a laptop for a committee she chairs, and after trying - and returning - a chrome book, this was her second choice. She absolutely adores it, and after examining and using it myself I have to say that there are several really good things about this computer which costs less than some of the chrome books and does more. First the display is extremely clear and crisp. (I admit that I'm spoiled by a 2560x1600 LED display which is better. HOWEVER this laptop's display is almost as clear in a much smaller size - plus this laptop cost less than my led monitor). Second it is a computer and has far more extensive capabilities than the chrome book - and it has a hard drive which gives far more local storage. And in addition it also uses a 128GB micro sd card (in a standard adapter) and ends up with enough storage for more documents, etc., than she is ever likely to need for her committee. On top of that it runs both LibreOffice and MS Office without a whimper, and can handle a variety of networking connections both through built-in wifi and bluetooth, and with simple usb3 adapters can connect to our local ATM network (2.5Gb/s) with no problems as well. The built-in CD/DVD rom drive is excellent, and it also connects to external disk arrays (and if needed, USB floppy drives) through a USB port and handles them flawlessly. We've used HP for years and while this laptop is far from top of the line, it has a good selection of features AND it performs without a whimper. I would definitely recommend it to friends and family was well as co-workers, and I would gladly buy it for my wife again.

Great Laptop
This is a great computer. Don’t expect cutting-edge technology for this price, but if you’re a student or a writer, this computer is more than sufficient. I’m a writer and freelance photographer who was looking for a good laptop to replace my old Compaq Presario. I did not want to spend a lot of money on a laptop, and I when I came across this one I decided to take a chance. I ran it through some tests as soon as it arrived, and I quickly realized that the 4GB of RAM that it comes with was not enough to efficiently and smoothly run photo-editing software. I had to order some more RAM to ensure that the laptop would be able to run Photoshop Elements and the photo-editing software that comes with Canon DSLRs. I just want to mention that contrary to what a lot of people have said online, this particular laptop can take up to 16GB of RAM, not only 8GB like many people have claimed. I have two 8GB sticks of RAM running side by side and the OS reads both of them. It’s only been a few weeks since I’ve been using this laptop to write papers and stories, surf the internet, edit photographs, and look at YouTube and Netflix. I have not had any issues, and I’m glad I made the purchase. If you’re on a serious budget like I am and are looking for a good laptop, I recommend getting this one. Just keep in mind that if you’re going to be using it to edit photographs, you will want to upgrade the RAM.

Nice computer for basic tasks. Good value for the price.
Has very good speed, functionality, and layout for a basic laptop computer - perfect for e-mail, Web surfing, and running programs like MS Office and MS Streets and Trips, Once I got used to the layout and functionality of Windows 10, general setup and loading software was a breeze. Minor complaints with computer is that status lights (charge, connectivity) are not located on front beneath keyboard like other laptops I've owned, but are on sides where not immediately visible, and that the on/off button does not have power on light (because of the minor lag in starting up, an indication the machine is actually 'on' would be useful). Biggest complaint with Windows 10 (so far) is that you now need to right click on mouse to pull up "Start" menu - totally opposite other computers I currently use.

Cheap and powerful
This guy comes at a nice low price for the amount of power packed within. The battery actually has a four hour lifespan -- the only time I've ever gotten a laptop with the battery as advertised. It's lightweight, but feels like it has sturdy construction. The keyboard is the best chicklet keyboard I've ever used, with a nice clack and great feel to it. Then that 4 gb of RAM, 500 gb storage, and non-integrated graphics make it the most potent laptop at this price you will find. The only complaint I have is the screen: 1366x768 is shabby nowadays. I'd much rather have a 1080p screen, but that would shorten the battery life, increase the cost, and allow you to run fewer games (the higher res would take more power). It's an acceptable sacrifice for the rest of the laptop, and I think that's what the designers had in mind. The audio also sucks, but I don't care about that. It gets the job done, and you'll be using earbuds if you care anyway. No laptop has high quality speakers.

An honest review...
I was very excited to receive this laptop as a New Year's gift DESPITE some of the negative reviews. When it was delivered I unpacked it and noticed it had been packed in a cardboard box, didn't really seem to be packed properly. As I began to set up the laptop I noticed it took forever to set up, and finally when I was able to access windows it froze on me and I was unable to click anything on the task bar. I then opened the task manager and restarted windows and it helped, but I was and still am dealing with minor lag. What is worse is the wifi keeps disconnecting randomly every 15-20 minutes. This is quite frustrating, I will give it a few more days in hopes that it will be done updating if not I will be seeking a full refund. I understand this is not the best laptop money can buy, however I expect it to do simple things like not lag when I'm casually browsing the internet and checking emails and to actually stay connected to the internet.
