I had one previous and that starting playing up so I went for this Kaiweets model. I think their goods are pretty decent for the price, and sit between the cheap and premium quality in general. After a few months, I can say the tool works quite well and provides a serious DIYer electrician a few more features than your basic NC Pen. Build quality seems pretty robust. The outer plastic is hard and solid and I feel it may take a drop or two but obviously don’t just throw it in a toolbox. Store it in its own box until needed. It’s a safety device after all. The meter would register about "1 line high" near the wires BUT it would also cause the meter to blink the same on places on the wall where there was absolutely no elec wires! I did the test both using the regular setting and also the Supper Sensitive setting. So MAYBE it MIGHT give you some idea where the wires are, but doubtful since there are to many false readings to be sure. That said, this meter works great if you are taking readings without sheetrock blocking it. **Q: would you recommend this over other models and why? what do you NOT like about it? how accurate is it?** A: I like that it is louder than others, equally easy to use, and the price was good **Q: I believe a wire that goes from my speaker passenger side rear door is dead, would I be able to use this to test the wire to see if there's power?** A: You.
