Spoiler alert.This one starts with Calvin Summers and his team in Central Park. He and the team are looking for hyena shifters who have been causing problems. Central Park is where they are and Cal is on point looking for them. The rest of the team is spread out doing the same. Its Winter and the snow is pretty deep making moving quickly a problem.The team are all part of THIRDS a human/Therian group of law enforcement officers who deal with all thing Therian and human in that area. The team is a mix of Therian shape shifters and human.Calvin Summers is human and he's the team sniper. As the point man he knows his best friend Ethan Hobbs, a Therian tiger is out there and as always has his back.Summers and Hobbs have been best friend since childhood. Hobbs isn't comfortable around large groups. In fact he goes mute and freezes. Cal is always there to comfort him and get him out of the area so he can relax. Its something Cal has done ever since the two of them became friends. Cal knows Hobbs inside and out and would like a relationship of another kind but that's something that will take time and Cal has all the time in the world.The team does round up the hyenas after Cal is knocked down and attacked. Hobbs in tiger form and Sloane as his Jaguar and Ash as a lion round them up and get them into the bearcat. The bearcat is the team vehicle and modified to deal with Therians. Once the hyenas are loaded up they head back to headquarters.Once at headquarters the Therian return to human form. They do get another call out though. This one involves a bomb threat. Hobbs as the explosives expert does dismantle one bomb only to find out there were two. With no time Hobbs vacates as fast as he can. The bomb explodes but since the building was cleared no one was injured. They do have to go back to that same building though when they get a call about shots fired and hostages.On arrival the building is cleared once again and Cal heads over to a building across the street. He's the team sniper and he gets himself into a position to take out the gunman if needed. It is needed and Cal takes the shot killing the gunman. This isn't something Cal does lightly but he knows the gunman had already killed on, wounded another and had hostages. Cal knows he had no choice. Unfortunately others don't share the same view.So begins another great THIRDS read.This one has Cal, Ethan, Sloane the team leader, his human mate Dex, Ashe, Cael who's Dex's brother and Ash's love interest, the rest of the team, the team Sgt. Maddox, Seb and Rafe who are Ethans older brothers, Austin, Sparks who heads the department, training, a Hobbs and Calvin finally coming together, a Rafe with a secret that's finally revealed, a Seb who's still in love with his mate Hudson, a Hudson who left Seb because of something that happened when the two of them were together, Calvins mother, Ethans mother and father, a nephew of the slain gunman, a Cal who is able to defuse a situation, a missing Dex and the THIRDS doing what it takes to protect New York City, catch the bad guys, hang onto their mates and lovers and stay alive.Five Stars and then some. Waiting for the next with the team hunting for a missing Dex. Fact #2: She is an evil author. Fact #3: This book is amazing.Catch a Tiger by the Tail is written from Calvin and Hobbs' points of view, and it focuses on their relationship. Fear not, Destructive Delta is as present as ever. There's action, excitement, a lot of fun shenanigans, and pain. So much pain. Little piece of advice: Have a good supply of things that comfort you and keep it close. Chocolate, a steaming cup of coffee, a blanket you love to cuddle in, you name it. And tissues. Lots of them.The first half of this book is all fun and games, so much that I started asking myself what Charlie was talking about when she mentioned the angst. I was laughing my ass off half the time, when the team got together and they were all being their awesome selves. I was lured into a false sense of security, but the second half broke me. It made me want to reach into the book and hug both Calvin and Hobbs.These two have been friends since they were kids, and they've been struggling to survive for just as long. Ethan's Selective Mutism and severe anxiety is something he deals with on a daily basis. Nevertheless, he's been taught from an early age that it doesn't define him, that he, as a person, is strong and capable. Calvin is his knight in shining armor, coming to his rescue and getting into fights with anyone who dares to hurt Hobbs.Because of everything they went through, Calvin and Ethan share a bond that's unbreakable. This books shines some light on what goes on inside Hobbs' head, his way of experiencing the world, but also on Calvin, who has had more than his fair share of a hard life. Calvin is the type of person to keep it all bottled up inside, but slowly, he learns to lean on Hobbs, too."As long as they were together, they'd make it through anything. Them against the world."Their relationship slowly morphs into something more when Hobbs is able to learn how to deal with the fear of losing his best friend. And it's amazing to see it happen, so worth the wait. Also, you know how they say it's always the quiet ones... Well, prepare for some amazingly hot and kinky sex, because these two... Phew! Just saying. ;-)I also liked finding out more about Hobbs' family, because their struggles put things into perspective. There's also snippets of Calvin's past, who's had to fend for himself since he was young. To be honest, the one who surprised me the most was Rafe, and his confession made me feel bad for him, even though I still want to punch him for treating Ethan like s*** in the past.Now, want to know why Charlie is an evil author? Because Catch a Tiger ends in a damn cliffhanger, that's why!!! Why, oh why??? Those two men have such a strong bond spanning years. They've been through thick and thin, and nothing diminished their feelings.In this book we finally get to meet the Hobbs Brothers - Rafe, Sebastian and Ethan. In bits and pieces we see the family as it was and as it is now - the struggles they face everyday due to being who they are and due to personal issues and demons. Finally light is shown on what happened between Seb and Hudson and how unhappy both men are, the mystery of Rafe's attitude is solved, and I can only say: "Courage, Rafe, your family will always be there for you."I loved when Ethan talked to Calvin. It was amazing how drastic a change in him was when he felt safe at home. His constant daily struggle to simply function tore at my heart. Calvin, I think, is one of the bravest and most loyal men. He is the fierce protector. It takes a long time for them both to work through this but when they do, it's just as if they've always been together. They are so in tune.The team of course brings the humor and friendly banter to otherwise serious heart-wrenching love story. Dex and Sloane's moving day and Cael's coffee high were hilarious! This time trouble revolves around Calvin and the tough decisions he has to make in line of duty. In the end it is resolved somewhat peacefully but not without cost to others. This book ends on a serious cliffhanger but I loved it anyway.
