Enjoying rugged day hikes or extended backpacking, in most weather conditions, on varied to difficult terrain resulting in moderate to significant stress on the feet. Specifically engineered to deliver maximum protection and comfort for men prone to blisters, foot pain, or discomfort. Review: Hiking, walking and work socks! Worth the money! - I purchased these socks for my husband, and he loves them! They are his go-to for hiking and walking, and he also wears them as work socks. He’s on his feet a lot, and the cushioning and support these socks provide make a noticeable difference in his comfort throughout the day. Yes, they are pricier, but they’re worth it. The quality is outstanding, and they hold up well after multiple washes without losing their shape or cushioning. These are an excellent investment if you’re looking for durable, comfortable, and versatile socks! Highly recommend. Review: Updated (1.5 years later) New: Great Socsk, - I'm a long time fan of Thorlon socks. But these seem a bit bulky, not as form-fitting as other Thorlon socks, and they seem to shed (wear) rather quickly. Time will tell on the wear issue. But I like the dark color, especially when wearing navy blue chinos to work (college teacher) with my Nike Shox (great shoes when standing for several hours and the students think the shoes are cool). (01/19/2009) It's been at least 18 months since I bought my first pair and they have held up very well to frequent use. They seem to be more durable than other socks from the same company. The black color has faded a bit, but that does not matter since I use them for casual wear. I'd give them five stars if I could figure out how to change that part of my older rating. (06/19/2010) I am still wearing the first pair, and others bought since then, on an almost daily basis. They just keep on being good, comfortable, and durable socks. No holes, no thin spots, and they still fit tightly and stay up all day. The fading slowed and stopped and I've come to like the slightly faded look now. I'm about to order more, not because any wore out but because my sons have "borrowed" several pair.

Updated (1.5 years later) New: Great Socsk,
I'm a long time fan of Thorlon socks. But these seem a bit bulky, not as form-fitting as other Thorlon socks, and they seem to shed (wear) rather quickly. Time will tell on the wear issue. We love these socks!
I love these socks! The cushion makes it so soft when on your feet. They are not the cheapest socks, but well worth every dollar for these socks that last me a long time. I don't use in the summer because they are way too hot. They stay up nice. Not too tight and not too loose. I ended up buying a pair for my boyfriend to try and he loves them. Now he's hooked, which means spending a little more money on his socks, but now both of us have happy feet!

For my use, with my feet, these are the best socks year-round.
I now own eight pair of Thorlo Hiker socks size Large/Men's 9-12.5 [various colors] bought from March of 2011 to October of 2012 so I'm comfortable offering comments because I wear a pair daily. As a senior citizen living in a rural area of northern Nevada high desert, I walk over three miles daily on average on pathways and sand wearing Keen or Salomon trail or hiking boots, and Thorlo Thorlon Hiker socks [ankle-high sock on me] that provide excellent cushioning and very good moisture control. For my use I no longer need summer or winter socks as these work for me in all four seasons. Almost all of the Thorlo Hikers i've bought needed some very minor thread trimming from the inside of the sock, but that's my choice not to leave loose threads. They do wear on my heel and forefoot pressure areas but not excessive IMO, and no sock has worn threadbare or developed a hole. Recommend buying one pair to try them out because there are many other sock choices these days. *by coincidence, as I'm writing this, my Fitbit web record shows I've reached one million steps since I began recording on 31 March 2012, 1,035,177 steps to be exact of "total lifetime steps". All while wearing my Thorlo Hiker socks!!

Super comfort, keep it in da BOOT!
Super soft. Absolutely NO blisters on hikes that would have left my paws hurting in the past. They almost feel slightly slick in my boots once you get hiking a bit. AWESOME for anyone who has circulation issues as they stay up for quite a while without squeezing your ankles and making marks on your legs. One potential issue: they "FUZZ" up on the outside once you wear them around the house on the carpet. So, keep them in your boots only...they don't make good slippers folks! Awesome sock. Comfort is through-the-roof great. Durability is terrible if you wear them alone without boots for any length of time...you B warned. Enjoy!

My Favorite Socks: Color, Comfort, Durability
These are the only socks I now purchase. I have a drawer-full of light gray and these brown ones. There is extra padding at the heels and toes, which helps with comfort and durability; they also absorb perspiration well. They may be more appropriate for cooler weather, because they do tend to keep your feet warm, but I wear them every day regardless. It's nice they are available in XXL; in the morning, when the "T. rex syndrome" really manifests itself, having socks that slip on easily is much appreciated by this 81-year-old.

Excellent sox for work boots.
If you're on your feet all day in heavy work boots, these are the socks you want (works for me).

Smaller than a size 12 used to be, Used to last 7 - 8 years but not anymore.
These should have been really good. They're expensive and I've bought this brand and model of hiking socks for many years, since the 80's. They used to last quite a few years even with extended hiking trips, mountain climbing in the Tetons, and heavy yard work, construction, etc. But this last set purchased in Feb 2023 is showing wear after only 2 days which is a concern. No way this is going to last like they used to. The grey fibers are so soft it's pilling up in 1 -2 days and showing wear already. The blue/grey and tan style called Thorlos Unisex LTH Light Hiking Thick Padded Crew Sock, Sage" seems somewhat better and are holding up "ok" but those also are not like they used to be. All the new ones I bought in 2-2023 are tighter and at least 1 size smaller than they used to be for 20 years. I'm not sure what to buy now since this is the only brand I've bought for a long time since they worked so well in the past with the right cushion, great longevity without being too thick that takes up room. Hopefully they start making it like they used to but i'm not going to try a bunch to figure that out.
