This book is a must-read for anyone involved with corporate cultures, change management, Agile, or other situations where there are human interactions. Rock provides sound psychological evidence by citing his research and the work of others to support recommendations for coaches. I especially like the section on Conflict Management using the SCARF model and techniques for refocusing negative energy into a positive and constructive direction.

I was excited to read this book, being an active "coach" to my managers and team. Unfortunately, I found this book to be too focused on academics with very little pragmatic or "nuts and bolts" application examples.

Great book for coaches connecting the brain with its practice

This is a great reference book for any coach. There is a thorough overview of many psychological, adult learning and neuro basics which assist in how they all blend with coaching. Very thorough with lots of references.

I enjoyed this book's very factual content; the book creates the context for coaching as a profession and ties all the threads together in the final chapters. It is well researched and covers a broad range of aspects that I would not have anticipated judging by the title. A worthwhile read and a book to keep for further reference.

It is written in a litle bit heavy language but very interesting and supports working with HSE matters and Safety Coaching

I liked the book and gained a lot of background information. I would have preferred a bit less of the background/historical context in reference to other disciplines.Still a good read and i look forward to new discoveries/ learning in the field.

David Rock's work has been part of the bedrock of my leadership coaching since I first discovered his 'Quiet Leadership' in 2007. This book written with Linda Page, is a treasure trove for any coach - or leader. A glorious mix of history, great stories, well-argued science and good sense - it is an exceptional resource, not a quick read but a book in which to dip and delve and to refer to again and again!

Bit hard going in places but worth keeping going

Wow. Lot's of history and development detail. Can get long, but nice to have.Lot's of different strategies and useful tips.I recommend this book to buy if you want to understand theories of coaching and also practical tips to put in action.This is a buy!

Excellent study of coaching within the context of philosophy, specifically ontology, and the currents of history and sociology. Very academic and very impressive work

Very well written and scrupulously researched, this book provides excellent theoretical and practical information on the art and science of conflict management coaching.
