65OLED805/12 65-Inch 4K OLED TV | Ambilight, UHD & HDR10+ | Dolby Vision & Dolby Atmos | Multi-room DTS Play-Fi | Google Assistant & Alexa Compatible

This is aimed to be a (reasonably) informative review without getting technical. I will aim to cover the main points and will try and answer other questions if people have them. I must also add I bought this myself, out of my own money and have no affiliation to any company. The question many people will probably ask is, why the heck should I pay £1,800 for a 65" television when I can get one for a heck of a lot less? The answer here is OLED + Ambilight = the best television I have experienced! I am already a convert to OLED televisions and have had an LG 55" one for the last 4 years. I simply wanted to go bigger and have just moved the LG set to the bedroom. Skip the marketing spouted by others (yes Samsung, you in particular), OLED is simply better than any other display type out there right now because it gives contrast levels (differences between dark and light) a a pixel level (that is each individual dot!) The result of all that is black that are totally black (you don't realise the importance of this until you experience it) and colours that are totally liefelike. Now I used the think the picture on the LG was gorgeous, and it still is to be honest, but this Philips television has taken it to a whole new level of detail. Standard HD looks spectacular, a notable improvement over the "old" LG set. Feed it a proper 4k (UHD) signal though and you are just mesmerised by the beauty. Heck, even the wife, who is normally uninterested in such things, was amazed and made me keep putting new stuff on to watch! So the picture is incredible. I am sure the new LG sets are equally as good (it is an LG screen anyway) , but then you add in the Ambilight... Now I had heard it is quite impressive, but I was not ready for just how much of a difference it makes. It is difficult to explain really, but it just adds to the viewing experience in a way that makes you notice it when it is not there in a negative way. Why other manufacturers have not tried something similar, I do not know (unless the Philips patent is utterly watertight) because it is hugely impressive. I will refrain from going all geeky, but it supports other display goodies like HR10 (ooh bright colours!) and Dolby Vision (ooh bright colours using a different method!) along with all manner of things you can do with the picture. If you want to know more about that, go read the technical reviews, I am trying to keep this interesting :). Sound is REALLY impressive - for a television that is. We are not talking good soundbar or home cinema level here, but I was surprised. Apps (well it is a smart TV)? Errr, lots of them, and it uses Android (9) which is easy to use if you are not an Apple addict ;-) It has all the usual ones, BBC, ITV, Netflix Amazon and you can download more from the Play store. I use a fire stick so I can't comment on the long term experiences with these, but I do know that earlier versions of Android on televisions had a few "challenges" on occasion. One thing I should point out is that this television is HEAVY! Really Philips, just how did you make a super thin television so damn heavy?? Setting this up, either wall mounted (uses standard ISO 300x300 fixings) or on its (very nice) feet on a stand is a 2 person job. Don't try and play the hero, it could be a painful and seriously costly mistake! A word (or 2 in this case) to those wondering about it for their console? Forget it! This is not designed for gaming so the lag will probably be noticeable and it does nopt support the new 4k/120hz stuff that the new consoles can run. However the new models coming out very shortly will support this (but will also cost quite a bit more). A final word about the remote. It is good, not too weighty (unlike the TV!) and has a pleasant leather backing (which may put off the more evangelical vegans) which feels good in the hand. It is back lit, but you need to press a button to make it light up (Philips, could you not have put in a simple motion sensor to make it light up??) Overall (and if you are still awake) I would say this probably should be the top of your list if you want a really good 65" television. If you are feeling particularly flush, go check out the 935OLED model which has a built in Bowers & Wilkins sound bar and apparently has sound quality to match the picture (Bowers and Wilkins make some wonderful speakers so I can believe that). I will update this in future with my longer term experiences. 26.07.21 Update. Well that was a short lived but intense relationship! Television continued to be wonderful - right up to the point where it stopped working. One day, went to turn on and just got a flashing power light. No resets worked, it was a significant hardware failure. Amazon customer service were their usual excellent selves - once I was able to speak to a decision maker. Unit was returned and refund given as there were none in stock at that time. I honestly think I was just unlucky here, to the point where I am about to get a different Philips television for the bedroom. The ambilight was a revelation and the picture quality was spectacular. Overall I have not changed my opinion on this television. Would I buy another? Yes. I am just waiting until later in the year when some works are completed and the new model is out.

I bought this tv to replace a 4 year old lg oled tv that was starting to fail. I thought that all oled tvs would be pretty much the same as they are all lg oled panels and I hadn't thought things could move forward that much. I was wrong, the philips oled 805 is leagues above the old lg. The overall brightness is far higher than others that I have seen and the colours are incredibly natural but still pop. Everything I watch now is exciting and because of this and its hard to imagine may tvs being able to produce a better image, especially in this price range. If there is any criticism, it is that the motion is fairly difficult to adjust to and the options to change it are quite limited. I have now adjusted to it and it does look great but I remember noticing at first that it created soap opera effect on almost every setting. Android tv is fine overall but it does feel a little restrictive in its options and the way you can manage certain settings. For example the audio out options can be a bit frustrating especially when it comes to lip sync adjustments that can't be done when it's outputting 5.1. The same is true for the motion options as above. For me these gripes don't take away from what is a stunning tv that makes everything infinitely watchable. 4k and hdr/dolby vision absolutely shines and creates the best image quality you could imagine from a tv at this time. General viewing on sky is also a pleasure and this tv handles lower resolution content really well. This is my first experience using ambilight and I have to say I love it. It makes what you watch far more immersive or to just a mellow background effect that's not too intrusive. Either way I would not want to go back to being without it. In my opinion you would struggle to get a better tv for this money and it is an absolute no brainer.

I give it a 4 because of the remote(more on that in a second). The TV is great. Bought it in 2021 still working incredibly well in 2025. The screen is just beautiful, the OLED technology is something amazing. Watching 4K Dolby Vision on it is just stunning. The sound is very loud too, but there is a but: THE REMOTE. It is bad as new but after few years it is falling apart. I checked where to get a replacement and nobody knows. I have missing buttons, functions that don't work anymore on the remote. That's such a shame.

This TV is fantastic, amazing picture quality. OLED TVs are definitely the best, perfect blacks and accurate colors. The ambilight is a great feature. You can even have the ambilight on when the tv is off. Great for games on my Xbox series s. The Dolby atmos sound is phenomenal for it just being built in tv speakers. I’d highly recommend this TV. Great price, great features and the Android tv with the updates is actually better than my fire tv 4K stick.

Venant d'une TV Led LCD 65" premier prix, tombée en panne 2 mois après la fin de la garantie, j'ai franchi le pas de l'OLED avec ce modèle. Certes le prix n'est pas le même, mais la qualité des images est à la hauteur. J'ai choisi un Philips car je tenais à l'Ambilight, que j'avais adapté sur mon téléviseur précédent avec un montage maison à base de Raspberry. Ici c'est déjà intégré, c'est bien plus simple. Je ne vais pas écrire un test complet. Tout n'est pas magique, notamment la télécommande dont j'aurais préféré que les boutons principaux soient plus gros et faciles à attraper, mais globalement la magie de la belle image est là. J'ai juste un peu peur du marquage, problème principal des écrans OLED. L'avenir dira si les optimisations faites par Philips pour les limiter au maximum sont efficaces. Mon téléviseur a été acheté auprès du vendeur RoyalPrice avec lequel tout s'est très bien passé, rapidement, et mention spéciale pour le transporteur VIR dont le sérieux et l'efficacité m'ont surpris. Ce commentaire est écrit le 1° jour de l'utilisation de ce téléviseur. J'espère continuer à apprécier ce modèle très longtemps.

Fernseher wurde nur in der Original Verpackung aber Profimäßig und freundlich angeliefert. Der Verpackungs Karton von Phillips erwies sich als recht praktisch beim Auspacken, da man die rundum Hülle nach oben wegziehen kann. Bei dieser Größe rate ich aber ihn mit zwei Personen aufzuhängen. (Hängt bei mir an der Wand). Beim starten des Fernseher wird man ganz gut durch die Einstellungen geführt, wobei ich auch nicht gleich wusste welche (Bild/ Ton) die besste ist. Man kann aber später ja noch nach Geschmack nach justieren, ich entschied mich jeweils für wie die mittlere Einstellung. Die Tasten auf der Fernbedienung sind etwas flach gehalten, ohne Erhebungen und dicht beisammen um sich blind zu orienteren, aber wenn man eine Taste bedient werden diese hinterleuchtet so das man im Schummerlicht sieht was man drückt. Die Bedienung ist besser als ich durch ein paar Rezensirungen befürchtet habe. Meine wetere Befürchtung wegen unerwünschte Reklame oder ähnliches wie ich gelesen hatte hat sich zum Glück auch nicht bewahrheitet. Fernseher startet nach dem einschalten mit dem letzten gesehenen Sender. Habe bei der installation aber Goggle auch nicht personalisiert. Bei den Angebotenen Dienste war Prime wichtig für mich und darauf zurückzugreifen ist einfach und bequem Beim einstellen der Favoriten Liste hatte ich ein paar Probleme da ich nicht gewöhnt war das es noch eine extra Taste mit einem + gab. mit dieser musste man die gewünschten Programme aus der Alle Kanäle digital Liste in ein Rechteck mit "Favoriten Liste 1" Bezeichnung verschieben. Name dafür lässt sich nach Wunsch benennen. Dies klappte noch ohne Probleme, nur beim Versuch meine Sender in der Favoriten Liste zu sortieren scheiterte ich ein paar Runden weil ich nicht dahinter kam mit welcher Taste ich die verschiebung bewerkstellige. Die Plus Taste für die Markierung funktionierte hierbei nicht. Bis ich dahinter kam das es nun mit der OK Taste und den rauf runter Tasten zum Verschieben funktioniert. Muss dazu sagen das ich ein Bdienanleitungs Muffel bin. Als Ambilightfan bin ich auch bei diesem OLED Fernseher zufrieden damit. (Manche Leute meinten ja es bringt nicht viel bei OLED. - Ich finde es trotzdem nett. Also nach der ersetn Woche bin ich sehr zufrieden mit dem Fernseher: Schön Groß Top Bild Top Ton WLan funktioniert prima Auf Prime umschalten sich etwas aussuchen klappt auch gut. Zugriff auf die Favoriten Liste ist gut, einmal auf diese Liste gestellt bleibt der Fernseher beim wieder einschalten dabei und springt nicht von sich auf was anders um. Für meine Zwecke und Vorstellungen ist der Fernseher perfekt und ich bin voll zufrieden.

Wir wollten schon länger einen Fernseher mit Ambilight haben. Da ich mit dem Schwarz von LED Fernsehern nie so richtig zufrieden war, wollte ich dieses Mal auch unbedingt ein OLED Pannel haben. Der Fernseher ist wirklich sehr dünn und hat auch nur einen sehr dezenten Rahmen. Das Android-Betriebssystem empfinde ich als sehr gut und durchdacht. Da ich hauptsächlich Amazon, Netflix und Disney nutze und keinen Kabel- oder Sattelitenanschluss habe, kann ich nichts über diese Empfangsmethoden sagen. Alle Steeninganbieter lassen sich aber super bedienen in sind komplett in das System integriert. Das Bild ist sehr gut und dadurch, daß das Schwarz wirklich Schwarz ist, wirkt alles sehr real und gestochen scharf. Der Sound ist nicht überragend, aber für so ein dünnes Gerät doch erstaunlich gut. Ich besitze zwar eine Soundbar, aber oft reicht mir auch der Ton des Fernsehers. Was das Fernsehererlebnis noch deutlich verbessert, ist das Ambilight. Durch die passenden Farben wird das Auge nicht abgelenkt, man merkt, daß es deutlich entspannter ist. Wir haben zusätzlich zum Ablight noch weitere Hue-Birnen in das System eingebunden. Auch das funktioniert wunderbar. Eine große Enttäuschung ist die Fernbedienung. Wer auch immer diese designt hat, hat wohl noch nie einen Fernseher benutzt. Die Tasten sind sehr flach und grenzen direkt aneinander. So lassen sich einzelne Tasten sehr schwer erfühlen und drücken. Was aber noch schlimmer ist, ist die Beleuchtung. Diese wird erst aktiviert, wenn man eine Taste gedrückt hat. Somit ist die Fernbedienung im dunklen sogut wir unbrauchbar, da man die Tasten kaum fühlen kann und auch nichts sehen kann. Man hätte auf die lederende Rückseite verzichten sollen und dafür einen Sensor integrieren können, der die Fernbedienung bei Bewegung beleuchtet. Die Fernbedienung ist für mich ansonsten das einzige Manko.

Nach zwei Versuchen mit Samsung und LG wollte ich es mal mit dem Philips 55OLED805 probieren. Für etwas über 1000,- € habe ich den Versuch gewagt und mir diesen Smart-TV als gebrauchtes Gerät über Amazon bestellt. Als ich die zerknauschte Originalverpackung erblickte bekam ich zwar leichte Bauchschmerzen, aber nach dem Auspacken fand ich weder Beschädigungen noch die im Angebot angegebenen "Schönheitsfehler" am Gerät selbst. Amazon, wie immer 5 Sterne von mir! Nach der sehr einfachen Installation und einiger Zeit der Eingewöhnung in die gesammte Bedienung ziehe ich nach einem Monat ein sehr gutes Fazit. Posiv: - Bild hervorragend - Ton ganz gut - Android TV mit dem VLC-Player spielt tatsächlich alle!!! Dateiformate des Fritbox-NAS problemlos über Wlan ab - Ambilight echt super - Umschaltzeiten HD Sender 1-2 Sekunden - Menüführung schnell und nach der Eingewöhnung gut zu bedienen - Amazon Prime sehr schnell und ohne Abstürze - TV Guide läd sehr schnell Negativ: - Fernbedienungstasten sehr gewöhnungsbedürftig - Sinnlose Bedienungshinweise im TV-Guide (Wussten sie schon?) zwischen den Sendern, auch nicht abschaltbar - Sowas geht eigentlich gar nicht! Alles in allem bin ich mit dem Gerät aber sehr zufrieden!

Fantastique appareil, avec une qualité générale de très bon niveau (telco rétro éclairée), un son étonnant avec un écran de quelques mm d'épaisseur et une image bluffante, et un ambilight juste parfait !
