A good book with lots of everyday sayings for German learners.

I found the book helpful for the more common phrases. The phonetic pronunciation guide is very useful. The English is aimed at American Speakers e.g. sidewalk instead of pavement, but this does not detract. Occasionally the examples given are odd e.g. ˋ I would like you to paint my house blue ' but most are useful. A useful book to use in a group setting.

Bought this book on our 2nd trip to Turkey because there were a lot of Germans there too. One day on our balcony a German couple were talking so loud next door we couldn't hear each other. I got the book and found the part where it said-please can you keep the noise down in german and hooray it worked. I found it easy to use and learn from as there are so many different sentences about all sorts of useful things and so easy to say the translations and remember them.

The best and easiest phrasebook for another language that I've found. Ended up buying the book for a nephew who is also learning German.

Bought this for my parents-in-law to take on a trip to Germany. They were very happy with it, but for whatever reason, it did not help my mil when choosing a birthday card for me - she got me a wedding card instead! I haven't had the heart to tell her.

During my college days, about 45 years, I had Sociology as my major for which I’d received my BA, and for my minor, I wound up taking German. Back in those days, my oral comprehension had been excellent [I’d received an A], reading comprehension had been a B+, with my writing being somewhat lower. It is the oral capabilities that are the most important that one needs to communicate with others in German. While my oral comprehension of spoken German going from German to English after all of these years is still relatively quite decent after all of these years. However, these days, due to lack of an opportunity to speak German, I’ve got problems trying to formulate what I’d like to say in German. The reason I’m mentioning this is that my dear OH and I plan to travel to Germany got pre-empted due to family matters. Now due to the COVID-19 virus, our plan has once again due foiled. When traveling abroad to any European country, its citizens appreciate it when tourists try to communicate in the country’s language. The best thing about this particular book is its continued use of the phonetic pronunciation of each phrase throughout its pages. The phonetic pronunciation gives the book’s English readers the correct way to speak German in a manner they’ll be able to understand. For wanting to enrich its reader’s ability to speak German as if they’re a native, by providing them with the most useful phrased they might encounter or want to speak, I’ve given the book’s publisher 5 STARS for its endeavor.
