As shown in the pictures, the bag needs to be underwater. I use this device to clean the gravel while I do a water change - so I don’t use the bag. Instead, I connect a hose in its place. I put batteries in,thinking that was the problem but come to think of it I DIDN'T HAVE TO USE BATTERIES THE 1st TIME I USED IT🙄I don't understand why it would need batteries in the first place when it's an electric device 🙄🤬 ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ does not work very good *by G***N on April 9, 2025* does not work very good ### ⭐⭐⭐ Fell apart on me *by V***H on November 28, 2021* I do a weekly 20% water change/substrate cleaning on my 55 gallon corner tank. I have used several different aquarium cleaning pumps similar to this one for the last 10 years or so. This is my first time with the Londafish. I have used this for about 4 months now, and finally retiring it.On the plus side, it does work: the suction is adequate, the gravel cleaner picks up debris without catching a huge amount of sand substrate and the telescoping adjustability is handy. The AC adapter is a good feature, but I had not had a chance to use it.However, the pump literally fell apart several times on me, forcing me to glue several pieces together: the gravel cleaner head to the black pipe adapter, and the suction pipe to the rotor head. Also the screw in pump housing kept separating(and was getting progressively worse), but I can't glue it together, as it may need to cleaned occasionally.Having used other pump systems in the past, I have not had these issues.
